Interconnected Flanges Or Shoulders Patents (Class 403/335)
  • Patent number: 8104587
Abstract: An elevator car consists of a floor, side walls, a back wall and a roof which are each constructed in a modular manner from a plurality of panels and which can be held together by means of connecting elements. The floor is formed from, in total, eight floor panels. The threshold is connected with the floor panels. The side walls each consist of ten wall panels. The back wall consists of eight wall panels and the roof consists of six roof panels. On site, the elevator car can be constructed in a short assembly time by means of plug connections and with a few screw connections. The panel mode of construction enables a low-volume transport of the elevator car to the construction site directly from the punching and changing machine.

Abstract: A joint is provided which can be used in a housing for electrical components is formed by a series of extruded panels connected edge to edge. The first edge includes a slot defined by an inner wall and an outer wall and the second edge includes a blade inserted into the slot, the blade and the flexible wall including cooperating shoulders. The blade and slot are at an angle to the outer surface where a rib engages into an outer recess to seal the outer surface at the joint. A bridging member spans the joint to prevent spreading, while locking the flexible wall and carrying internal components. The housing can form a post or a receptacle on top of the post. The bridging members connect to end plates by screws extending though the plates so as to form an internal structure for the housing. Some of the connected panels can include cooling fins forming a cooling duct.

Abstract: A modular crankshaft features a connection system between modules that features opposed female receptacles. A pin having opposed beveled ends and hydraulic passages with it is inserted into the opposed receptacles. A pair of seals is disposed on the beveled ends and straddles a hydraulic fluid outlet. The crankshaft wall that defines each receptacle is designed to flex in response to applied hydraulic pressure between the seals on the tapered pin portion. A notch at the base of the receptacle in the crankshaft reduces stress concentration and enables the wall defining the crankshaft receptacle to come back when hydraulic pressure through the pin is removed. The opposed crankshaft receptacles are flanged to allow them to be pulled together over the pin. An interference fit results around the pin after the flanges are mated and the hydraulic pressure is removed.

Abstract: In a peripheral connecting region of two sheets including two overlapping flanges of the sheets, the sheets are connected to each other such that they cannot be displaced relative to each other. In order to be able to connect high-strength sheets or other sheets which can be difficult to weld to each other, the sheets are connected in the connecting region by a strip-shaped fastening element. The strip-shaped fastening element encloses the outer contour of the flanges and rests with some sections of its inner side on mutually remote surfaces of the two flanges. A method for producing the connecting region is also proposed.

  • Patent number: 7037065
Abstract: An arrangement for cooling or heating of a flange bolt for turbines comprises one or more boreholes, that extend through the bolt, and inlet and outlet pipes that are connected to each end of the borehole. A cooling or heating medium such as air, steam or any other fluid flows through an inlet pipe into and through the borehole thereby cooling or heating the bolt, and exits from the borehole via an outlet pipe. The cooling or heating arrangement enables direct cooling or heating of the bolt itself and ensures stable bolting forces throughout the operation of the turbine. The flange bolts with this arrangement may be applied to gas turbines or steam turbines operated at elevated steam temperatures and pressures.

This mounting plate is sandwiched between the flange and an outer face of the hardened plate and has an outer periphery spaced well outward of the flange. A plurality of nuts bear on an inner face of the hardened plate in line with the flange. Respective bolts extend through the flange, mounting plate, and hardened plate into the nuts and press the flange and mounting plate against the outer face of the hardened plate. A weld at the outer periphery secures the mounting plate to the hardened plate.

Abstract: The present invention provides a joining structure capable of greatly improving the proof stress and the fatigue property by alleviating the stress concentration and residual stress caused by welding heat at one or both ends of a tabular member. In the present invention, one or both ends 4 of a tabular member 3 such as a reinforcing rib, fixed to the surface of a structural member 1 in the direction of the principal stress of the structural member 1 so as to protrude in the shape of T, is/are bent in a direction deviating from the direction of the principal stress and, by this, the rigidity at the end(s) 4 of the tabular member 3 decreases and the stress concentration is alleviated. It is preferable to bend one or both ends of a tabular member 3 in the shape of an gradual curve and to the extent that each bent end is formed at a right angle to the direction of the principal stress. The tabular member may have the shape of a flat plate, or it may be bent so that it has the shape of U or V as a whole.

  • Patent number: 6681538
Abstract: The present invention is a pin-fuse joint generally utilized in a beam-to-column joint assembly subject to extreme seismic loading. The pin-fuse joint resists bending moments and shears generated by these loads. The joint is comprised of standard structural steel building materials, but may be applied to structures comprised of structural steel, reinforced concrete, and or composite materials, e.g., a combination of structural steel and reinforced concrete. The beam-to-column assembly is comprised of a column and a beam and a plate assembly that extends between the column and the beam. The plate assembly is welded to the column and is attached to the beam via the pin-fuse joint. The pin fuse joint is created by a pin connection through the beam and the connection plates of the plate assembly at the web of the beam. Additionally, both the plate assembly and the beam have curved flange end connectors that sit flush against one another separated only by a brass shim when the beam and plate assembly are joined.
