Patent number: 6023899Abstract: A wall panel assembly with a sealed joint. The sealed joint is virtually airtight even in an enclosure having an ambient air pressure substantially greater than the air pressure outside the enclosure, such as an air handling cabinet. Each joint is comprised of two abutting looped joint edges in combination with a Y-shaped seal. The looped joint edge provides added structural rigidity to the panels, and the enlarged looped ends on the joint edges enclose and protect the seal therebetween from exposure to the elements. The seal itself not only withstands positive internal air pressure but is actually improved thereby. Abutting joint edges of adjacent wall panels create a narrow channel for receiving the longitudinal flange portion of the seal, and a broader V-shaped channel to receive the enlarged body portion of the seal. In this way, the body portion of the seal is seated in a channel so that internal pressure exerted against the seal will cause the seal to appressingly engage the channel.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 1998Date of Patent: February 15, 2000Assignee: ClimateCraft Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Walter P. Patent number: 5980225Abstract: The pump (20) has a rotor (80) rotatable by a drive in a pump duct (25). The rotor (80) has a pump element (90) with undulating boundary faces extending radially. The boundary faces are bounded cylindrically and run in a fitted manner in a cylindrical conveying region (27), their highest points running adjacent to the end faces (35) of the pump duct in a sealed manner. In addition, a sealing slide (31) is provided, which is displaceable parallel to the axis of rotation (76) and which seals off the pump duct (25) between the inlet (22) and the outlet (23), so that during rotation the rotor (80) follows the undulating movement of the boundary faces (96) of the pump element (90). In addition, sealing means seal off the media-conveying pump chambers from the housing (21). The rotor (80) is detachably connected to the drive shaft (180) while forming connecting boundary faces, which are arranged on the drive side on the other side of the sealing means with respect to the media-conveying pump chambers.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1997Date of Patent: November 9, 1999Assignee: Sundstrand Fluid Handling CorporationInventor: Manfred Sommer

Patent number: 5941653Abstract: A composite structure has a rod (1) and a collar (2) locked on the rod (1) and composed of two semicollars (12, 22), each extending over an angle smaller than 180.degree. and having lateral longitudinal flanges (12', 12", and 22', 22"), whereat they are linked to each other by clamping bolts (3', 3"). The flanges (12', 22') on one side of the semicollars (12, 22) adhere to each other with their facing plane surfaces (212', 222'), whereas the facing plane surfaces (212", 222") of the flanges (12", 22") on the opposite side of the semicollar (12, 22) are spaced. The rod (1) has at least one outer positioning projection (6', 6"), which is engaged in a corresponding inner positioning recess of the collar (2).Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1997Date of Patent: August 24, 1999Assignee: Alstom Transport Electrification S.p.A.Inventor: Alfredo Cipriani

Patent number: 5906452Abstract: A mechanism for folding a bicycle according to the invention comprises an upper grip, a lower grip, an upper tube base, a lower tube base and an adjustable set pin. By the connecting pin, the upper grip is able to turn around on the lower grip, and a handle, a pulling eye and a hook are provided with the upper grip. When folding, let the contact rim of the adjustable set pin in contact with the depressed surface, then pull the upper grip upwards with a finger inserting into the pulling eye and against the resistive force of the spring, bring the hook to engage it with the hanger provide on the upper tube base latching closely together the upper and lower tube bases. In case of unfolding, insert a finger into the pulling eye and pull it upwards and outwards simultaneously and forcefully. The mechanism according to the invention assures easy and prompt for folding or unfolding the frame of a bicycle with simple and secure construction.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1996Date of Patent: May 25, 1999Inventor: Gin Chaung Lee

Patent number: 5823703Abstract: A shaft coupling including a socket, a first shaft, a plug on a second shaft seated in the socket, and a clamp operative to clamp together the first and the second shafts in the direction of a longitudinal centerline of the shaft coupling to prevent dislodgment of the plug from the socket. The clamp includes an annular first flange on the first shaft, an annular second flange on the second shaft facing the first flange, oppositely facing frustoconical shoulders on the first and the second flanges, a plurality of clamp jaws pivotally mounted on the first shaft arrayed symmetrically around the first and the second flanges each having a closed position inducing radial thrust on the oppositely facing frustoconical shoulders, and springs biasing each of the clamp jaws toward its closed position.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 1997Date of Patent: October 20, 1998Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: Steven Mark Thomas, Kevin Carlton Ross, Michael Francis Slasinski

Patent number: 5709429Abstract: A drink container holder is mounted to a generally upright seat standard having at least one seat bracket to support a seat back in a generally upright position. The seat back is mounted to the seat bracket with a bolt and nut. The container holder includes an open top receptacle and a pair of bosses that have threaded metal inserts that receive the seat fasteners so the fasteners can be tightened into the inserts. When tightened, the seat bolts and container holder are securely held in place. A support flange attached to the container holder braces the container holder against the seat backs for stability.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 1996Date of Patent: January 20, 1998Assignee: MTS Northwest Sound, Inc.Inventor: Peter W. Patent number: 5647561Abstract: A system for releasably restraining a first element and a second element is disclosed. The containment system uses a tensioner to urge a clamp into contact with the first element and with the second element, and a release selectively operates the tensioner to remove the clamp from contact with the first and second elements to permit relative movement therebetween. The clamp is particularly useful in maintaining a gap between the first and second elements which permits relative movement between the first and second elements after the clamp is removed.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1993Date of Patent: July 15, 1997Assignee: Honeywell Inc.Inventors: Wilfred Robinson, David R. Patent number: 5529353Abstract: A sealing device for an electrical meter includes a positioning ring and a fragile outer ring. The positioning ring is integral with an upper end of a meter socket and includes an oblique circular upper end which inclines outwardly, an outer peripheral wall which has an annular recess therein, and an annular ledge extending radially outwardly from a lower end thereof and having a plurality of spaced-apart apertures therein. The outer ring is L-shape in section and includes first and second annular arms disposed perpendicular to each other. One annular engaging member projects outwardly from an inner wall of the second annular arm which is concentrically disposed around the positioning ring for engaging with the annular recess in the positioning ring. A plurality of spaced-apart lugs extend downwardly from a bottom of the second annular arm for engaging with the apertures in the positioning ring to prevent rotational movement of the outer ring.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 1995Date of Patent: June 25, 1996Inventor: Tien-yu Kuo
