The male slabs include spaced reinforcing rods extending longitudinally and transversely through the male slabs with the rods' distal ends protruding outwardly away from one or more side edges of the male slabs to form a plurality of male connectors. The female slabs include a plurality of corresponding female sockets on one or more sides of the female slab, each female socket receiving a corresponding male connector when dropped therein. Corresponding female sockets positioned on opposite side edges of the female slabs are interconnected by steel reinforcing bars in both the longitudinal and transverse directions in a configuration similar to the male slabs so that, when connected, a continuous tension reinforcement is established between male and female slabs in both the longitudinal and transverse directions.

Abstract: A rotational coupling couples a rotor, or driven member, to a rotating shaft. The rotational coupling reduces stress by distributing a driving force from a coupling over a planar contact area on the rotor. The rotor is coupled to a rotating shaft via a coupling that can include a pin. The coupling includes a drive surface that is connected to, but radially separated from, the rotating shaft. An inner surface of the rotor includes at least one contact surface, and the coupling includes at least one drive surface. A portion of the coupling including the drive surface can be comprised of a stronger material than a portion of the rotor that includes the contact surface. The drive surface and the contact surface contacting over a planar contact area, over which the driving force from the shaft is distributed.

  • Patent number: 7090700
Abstract: An offset alignment device with a longitudinal axis is provided that can offset two prosthetic components a selected distance along an alignment axis that is selectably oriented in a plane that is generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, and can also adjust the distance between the two prosthetic components in a direction generally parallel to the longitudinal axis. The present invention comprises first and second members. The first member has a channel and the second member has a bar for being adjustably connected to the channel along the alignment axis. A set screw can be through a hole in the wall of the channel in a direction generally perpendicular to the alignment axis to contact the bar and hold it stationary within the channel. One or both of the first and second members can be rotatably connected to one or both of the first and second prosthetic components, respectively.

  • Patent number: 6971617
Abstract: An apparatus for supporting medical fluids for delivery to a patient during surgery, in particular for fluids for intravenous delivery to the patient, is provided. The apparatus comprises a clamp for removably securing the apparatus to an object, such as a surgical table or bed, to allow the object to support the apparatus, the object being immovable relative to the patient to which the fluids are to be delivered. An arm is provided extending from the clamp. A support is connected to the arm remote from the clamp, the support being adapted to retain a receptacle containing medical fluids. In one embodiment, the arm is movable longitudinally with respect to the clamp, thereby allowing the position of the support with respect to the clamp to be adjusted. In a second embodiment, the arm is rotatable about the clamp such that the fluid receptacle support may be moved within a plane containing the longitudinal axis of the arm.
