  • Patent number: 5509751
Abstract: An apparatus for attaching a seat to a seat post comprises a cylindrical housing with oppositely oriented openings on the side of the housing. Top and bottom clamping pieces are positioned through the openings. Mating grooves on the ends of the clamps are adapted for placement and securing of a pair of rails affixed to the underside of the seat. A bottom block is disposed beneath the clamps and adapted for abutment against the clamps. The interior bottom portion of the housing is threaded, and the exterior top portion of the seat post is threaded for engagement with the threads of the housing, so that the seat post itself is tightened against the bottom piece, thus securing the seat rails within the clamps without need for tools or small components.

  • Patent number: 5501544
Abstract: A clamping assembly including a first end member having a recess defined in an end surface thereof and a bore between opposing end surfaces thereof. An intermediate member has a recess in each end surface thereof and a bore between the first and second end surfaces thereof. A second end member has first and second end surfaces and a recess defined in one of the end surfaces thereof, and a threaded bore between the first and second end surfaces. The intermediate member is disposed between the first and second end members such that the threaded bore aligns with the bore of the intermediate member and the bore of the first end member. One recess of the intermediate member cooperates with the recess of the first end member to define a first pin bore through the clamping assembly. The other recess of the intermediate member cooperates with the recess of the second end member to define a second pin bore through the clamping assembly disposed generally transverse to the first pin bore.

  • Patent number: 5498098
Abstract: A two-piece clamping assembly includes a first clamp member and a second clamp member constructed and arranged to cooperate to define first and second pin bores. The first bore is disposed generally transverse with respect to the second bore. A rod is threaded into an axial bore through a portion of the first clamp member and extends through the second clamp member beyond an end surface thereof. A control knob is coupled to the end of the rod. The control knob includes a seating surface constructed and arranged to engage the end surface of the second clamp member, whereby manual movement of the control knob such that the seating surface contacts the end surface, clamps the second clamp member between the first clamp member and control knob so as to clamp associated pins in the pin bores. The first and second clamp members are constructed and arranged in such a manner that all operative threads of the rod are disposed within the axial bore.

  • Patent number: 5454662
Abstract: A pipe corral connector consisting of a pair of bolts having corresponding hingedly coupled first ends, and second, threaded ends. The second end of one of the bolts is provided with a right hand thread while the second end of the other bolt is provided with a left hand thread. The threaded ends of the bolts are brought together with a nut that is internally threaded halfway with a right hand thread and halfway with a left hand thread. The nut provides a turnbuckle-like effect in bringing the two bolts together and tightly joining intersecting or parallel pipes of a pipe corral. The connector eliminates all sharp edges which might otherwise injure a corralled horse. The inside surface of the connector bolts may be serrated or notched to provide increased friction at the point of pipe connection. The nut and one of the bolts may be marked to identify matching thread sense to facilitate determination of the correct orientation of the nut.

  • Patent number: 5437134
Abstract: A collapsible security grille is provided comprising two conventional face-to-face sets of rigid grille bars (2, 9) pivotally interconnected at their intersections, wherein all the pivotal connectors (4) are uniformly and non-adjustably spaced apart along their respective grille bars in one said sets, but are free, as far as the second set is concerned, to undergo small sliding displacements along the grille bars of that set. In this way the stresses that ordinarily lead to jamming, jerky action and noise are automatically compensated at the point and instant of their origin. It is preferred that the pivotal connectors around the periphery of the second set are likewise non-adjustably spaced apart, so that every such connector at a grille bar meeting point (6) (as distinct from a crossing point 8) is spaced from both of the two next adjacent crossing-point connectors (8).

  • Patent number: 5379562
Abstract: A flow-through cap and stirrup for reinforcement bars in a building wall and method of use thereof is disclosed. The building wall is formed from successive layers of masonry blocks having cells therethrough which form a hollow vertical core. Usually and particularly in earthquake prone areas, construction practices include the insertion and grouting in place of a pair of overlapping reinforcement bars within the core formed by the masonry blocks. The device of this invention is a cap and stirrup unit for holding the reinforcement bars in the requisite position. • Patent number: 5364203
Abstract: A bus bar connecting device according to the invention comprises a clamper for clamping first and second bus bars disposed to extend at an angle with each other. The clamper is preferably electrically conductive to permit passage of an electric current therethrough. The second bus bar may have a hole, and a bolt extends through the clamper and the hole of the second bus bar, and screwed into a nut provided on the opposite side of the second bus bar. As the bolt is screwed into the nut, the clamper is pressed against the bus bars, and also presses the first and second bus bars against each other. Preferably, the clamper has linear protrusions at which it is in contact with the bus bars. Because of the pressure contact along the entire linear protrusions, the area of contact is larger than if the contact is made only at a point. The device is provided with a mechanism to prevent shift of the second bus bar in the lateral direction of the first bus bar. Such a mechanism may consist of a step of the clamper.

  • Patent number: 5330473
Abstract: A branch connector is useful for connecting a pair of spine rods in a spinal fixation system. The branch connector includes an upper saddle, a lower saddle and a bolt for clamping the saddles together. The upper and lower saddles mate to define a pair of openings for receiving the spine rods. The bolt includes a threaded shaft that extends through a first aperture defined by the upper saddle and threads into a second aperture defined by the lower saddle. By tightening the bolt, the saddles are drawn together to securely grip the spine rods. The openings can be arranged in different configurations to perform different functions. Abstract: An improved foot-operated gearshift mechanism wherein a foot-operated pedal is operable to cause the pedal to move, generally, up or down. This movement, in turn, causes the gear-shift shaft to rotate so as to change gears. The improvement lies in providing a shifting lever assembly which has three sections. The first section is attached to the foot-operated pedal at one end and has an elbow at the other end. The second section proceeds to a second elbow. From that second elbow, the third section continues to a gearshift handle.

Abstract: An improved irrigation boom assembly is provided for relatively rapid and easy mounting onto the main water distribution pipe of a traveling irrigation system, particularly such as a center pivot or linear travel system. The improved boom assembly includes a water supply drop pipe adapted for rapid and secure mounting onto the main distribution pipe by an improved clamp assembly and for receiving water from the distribution pipe via a flexible feed hose. The drop pipe has a manifold at its lower end designed for facilitated connection to a lightweight boom comprising a pair of elongated wing tubes cantilevered outwardly therefrom in opposite directions, wherein the wing tubes are each supported in an adjustably selected geometry by a respective pair of support cables anchored between the drop pipe and the wing tube and threaded through support struts mounted at spaced intervals along the wing tube spans. The outboard end of each wing tube includes an easily removable end fitting to permit periodic flushing.

The clip body comprises a pair of spaced-apart parallel sidewalls and a top wall connecting the sidewalls. A first pair of projections extends outwardly from one side of the two sidewalls and each terminates in an upwardly extending hook. With the clip body, the first pair of projections form a first shelf-receiving space. From the opposite side of the clip body, a second pair of projections extends outwardly from the clip, each terminating in an upwardly extending lip. A tongue extends outwardly from the top wall above the second pair of projections and from the same side of the clip body as does the second pair of projections. The tongue terminates in a downwardly extending lip, and with the second pair of projections and the clip body, forms a second shelf-receiving space.
