  • Patent number: 8783998
Abstract: A force-fitting clamping connection includes a first metal clamping surface, a second metal clamping surface, and a clamping element for clamping the clamping surfaces against one another. The first clamping surface forms a hardened fine surface structure with microreliefs and microdepressions. The second clamping surface has a lower hardness than the first clamping surface. Preferably, the first clamping surface is surface-treated by sand-blasting, shot-blasting or embossing before the hardening operation. This allows permanently high friction coefficient values between the clamping surfaces. A flange connection includes such a clamping connection for transmitting high torques.

Abstract: A distance device bridges a free space between a carrier part and a roof body for fastening a roof luggage rack, such as a roof rail, a roof strip or the like, on a vehicle roof by a threaded screw, with a support part and a counter support part. The support part and counter support part are held together by a threaded connection and can be adjusted relative to each other in order to set a bridging length. The support part or counter support part is carried along by a rotationally engaging connection with the threaded screw when it is screwed into a counter thread of the roof luggage rack or carrier part as far as a contact position with the carrier part or the roof body. The rotationally engaging connection has a plastic carrier into which the thread of the threaded screw is/has been screwed for carrying along with frictional resistance.

Abstract: A flange component used to secure a first panel to a second panel including a first section to be affixed to the first panel and a second section to be affixed to the second panel. The second section is integrally formed with the first section, which has a length dimension that is longer than a length dimension of the second section forming first and second tabs. The second section of the flange component is integral to an intermediate section between the first and second tabs. The second tab is offset relative to the intermediate section and first tab whereby when the first section is attached to the first panel, a space is formed between the second tab and the first panel. A first tab of an adjacent flange component is inserted this space, and the second section protrudes from a periphery of the first panel for receiving the second panel.
