  • Patent number: 7357589
Abstract: An adjustable steering tie-rod assembly having a threaded rod, connected to a tube having an annular cavity and an intermediate tubular member. The intermediate member has internal and external threads with longitudinal grooves in sectioned lines. The threaded steering terminal, intermediate member and tube are connected in a concentric arrangement. The internal and external threads of the intermediate member facilitate adjusting the length of the assembly without axial movement of the intermediate member. The bracketing assembly is designed to ensure that the components are adequately fixed and form a solid assembly. The longitudinal grooves of the intermediate member are thrust on the external thread of the rod of the steering terminal and on the internal thread of the tubular extremity of the steering tie rod, to provide locking of the assembly and hindering the spontaneous rotating movement of the components regardless of the specific geometry of the steering tie-rod.

  • Patent number: 6357953
Abstract: A tolerance compensator provides a predetermined tolerance or space between connected assembly members. The tolerance compensator has a pair of connector components a first of which is secured to one of the assembly members and the second connector component is threadably installed, with a left hand thread, into the first connector component. A threaded fastener, with a right hand thread, is inserted into the connector components to initially engage the second connector component, either threadably or frictionally, to cause relative rotation between the first and second components whereby the second component advances toward and engages the second assembly member. The threaded fastener also threadably engages the first connector component to provide a secure connection between assembly members with the designed tolerance or space therebetween.

The split shaft members are manufactured from oppositely threaded cylindrical shafts which are machined along their threaded sections to split each cylindrical shaft into two symmetrical, longitudinally split shaft members, which are then paired with oppositely threaded split shaft members and secured together with the central link, preferably with a separation band of plastic or corrosion resistant metal between their opposing flat surfaces. The shaft members are also provided with distal clamps such as hooks, loops or full threads for attachment of cables, rods or similar members.

  • Patent number: 4498625
Abstract: A unit fuel injector combines an injection nozzle, a fuel pumping unit, and a solenoid valve with a mechanism for precise adjustment of the air gap size in the solenoid. Activation of the solenoid and closing of the spill port in the solenoid valve results in fuel injection from the injection nozzle. Controlling the duration and timing of the solenoid voltage pulse controls the quantity of fuel injected and injection timing, while an adjustment of the size of the solenoid air gap permits fine adjustment of the quantity of fuel injected at a given voltage pulse duration. Adjustment of the air gap size in the solenoid for the unit fuel injector uses a differential thread arrangement. Relative rotation takes place between two pairs of threads so that the accuracy of adjustment is determined by the difference between the pitches of the two pairs of threads.
