Secant, I.e., Rod Extending Through Plate Patents (Class 403/69)
  • Patent number: 11346390
Abstract: The invention relates to an umbilical termination assembly for terminating a cable or umbilical. The termination assembly comprises a plurality of umbilical elements extending from an umbilical and which pass through a bulkhead plate. The seated ball element has a spherical body through which an umbilical element passes. The ball element is seated in a cup member which allows the ball element to rotate through a large range of angles allowing it to be aligned with the umbilical element without the umbilical element needing to be manipulated or forced into position. The umbilical element can then be attached to the ball element which is supported by the cup member on the bulkhead. This allows the axial tension in the umbilical element to be transferred to the bulkhead.

  • Patent number: 7546994
Abstract: The present invention pertains to extension arm apparatuses that are adapted to support user devices throughout a range of positions. A given apparatus may include one or more arms that position the user device remotely from a support position. An extension and retraction device such as a gas cylinder is received within each arm, and provides a force to support the user device as the arm is placed into a given position. A variable force clevis is connected to the extension/retraction device within the arm. The variable force clevis is connected to a pair of locations in the arm as well. As the arm moves, for instance up or down, the variable force clevis rotates within the arm and dynamically adjusts the force provided by the extension/retraction device. Removable and/or pivotable covers are provided for managing cables of the user device attached to the extension arm.

  • Patent number: 6663312
Abstract: A thin, firm material base (10) with a slotted tube (20) and attached clip (40) assembly inserted through the base and secured to the base (10) with bolt retainers (30). The bolt retainers (30) keep the tube (20) secure within the base (10). The base (10) is encased in a split cylindrical foam material to provide for support, shape and proper alignment when used in an internal application such as a puppet wrist. In addition a rod with a ground end can be temporarily inserted into the tube (20) and attached clip (40) assembly, providing a temporary, yet secure connection while allowing for rotational movement of the rod (60) within the tube (20). The temporarily secure connection is a result of the friction of the inserted rod (60) coming into contact with the straight side of the clip (40) within the interior diameter of the tube (20).

  • Patent number: 5979521
Abstract: An adjustment mechanism for adjusting the position of a surface relative to a first element includes a first arm having first and second members. One of the first and second members is pivotally mounted to the first element about a first axis. The other of the first and second members is pivotally mounted to a second element, having the surface thereon, about a second axis. The first member includes a first bore therein, and at least a portion of the second member is received by and is slidably movable within the first bore. A locking mechanism selectively restrains sliding movement of the second member within the first bore to thereby adjust the length of the first arm and vary the position of the surface relative to the first element.

  • Patent number: 5505103
Abstract: A manual transmission shifter, which comprises a ball mounting a shift lever, a lateral shift control arm, and a depending shift control member, is mounted in a plastic shifter housing having a plastic closure plate. The housing has a plurality of spaced integral resilient spring fingers contoured to form a socket for receiving the ball. The fingers are interconnected at their upper ends to define an upper opening for the shift lever. The spring fingers define an opening smaller than the ball diameter at their bottom free ends and flex to receive the ball and contract to snugly embrace the ball. The shift control arm projects through a side slot in the housing to enable up-and-down vertical movement of the control arm from a centered neutral position. An integral spring finger biases the control arm to the neutral position. The closure plate has an annular surface which embraces the bottom ends of the spring fingers to define the size of the socket.

  • Patent number: 5112153
Abstract: A captive ball and socket joint where the socket is made from bearing material which is encased in a metal shell, thereby forming a socket around the ball head on the end of a ball stud. The metal shell is cup-shaped and has its base wall apertured so that the ball formed with internal wrenching socket is accessible through the aperture when the ball and the bearing socket are placed into the cup-shaped shell. A flat steel connector lug is pierced with an opening and the wall of the metal cup-shaped shell is secured within the opening by welding. The edge portion of the shell is deformed to render the ball and socket captive in assembly with the lug. The hole in the base wall of the shell permits access for insertion of a rotary drive tool to engage a formation in the ball component to rotate the ball component and secure it to a machine element such as a brace or bracket. The bearing socket can be one or two pieces and can be made from metal bearing material or a plastic bearing material.
