Patent number: 5609565Abstract: Each pivotal shaft normally urged in one direction by the urging means drives the movable barrel to push the pressure spring, so that the clutch disposed either to the inner ball or to the outer ball in each joint is brought into press contact with the other ball to lock the joint. Accordingly, once the holding arm holds a tool, the holding force of the arm does not decline with time. Since the pressure applied to the pressure spring by the movable barrel is released by turning the pivotal shaft in the opposite direction by the driving means, each joint assumes an unlocked state. Thus, the tool held at the free end portion of the holding arm can be moved to a desired position, and also the holding position can be changed very easily.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 1995Date of Patent: March 11, 1997Assignee: Mitaka Kohki Co., Ltd.Inventor: Katsushige Nakamura

Patent number: 4569448Abstract: An expandable storage system for securely storing materials of various shapes and sizes in an organized, easily identifiable and accessible manner. One or more rows of support members are removeably secured upon a panel so that their positions on the panel may be easily changed in order to secure materials of varying sizes and shapes. A resilient upper support member applies downward pressure on stored materials so that they are held securely against the other support members in order to minimize movement. Additional panels may be quickly added to the system by snapping hinge members to the panel edge and connecting those hinge members, by gravity support, to hinge members on an adjacent panel. Locations are provided for labels and other information relating to stored materials, with no separate space required for the label location. The storage system may be removeably mounted on a structural surface during use and may be secured in a closed configuration similar to a suitcase for transporting.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 1983Date of Patent: February 11, 1986Assignee: C/H Research AssociatesInventor: Charles H. Patent number: 4552480Abstract: A ball socket member molded of resilient resin material is open at one end to receive and retain a ball in a part spherical cavity within the body communicating with a chamber containing a lubricant. The socket member carries a skirt at its open end which is adapted to form a seal with a member which carries the ball to prevent leakage and/or contamination of lubrication contained within the body cavity. Relief grooves are formed in the socket member which distribute lubricant on the ball and vent excess lubrication from the cavity as the ball is pressed into the cavity. The socket member has a polygonal external surface having a circumferential groove formed therein which receives the portion of the linkage member surrounding a complementary polygonal opening therein, so as to anchor the socket member against rotation relative to the linkage member.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1984Date of Patent: November 12, 1985Assignee: Sprague Devices, Inc.Inventor: Allan E. Patent number: 4517710Abstract: A fastening clip is disclosed for use in fastening a component with a hole through it to a surface which also has a hole through it, in particular for motor cars. The clip has a supporting plate 5 extending at right angles to the axis of the clip and a rectangular body 6 connected thereto. The body 6 is connected to the holding plate 5 by way of expanding and locking arms connected to one another by integral bending areas 13, 14, 15. The expanding and locking arms 11, 8 and 12, 9 respectively are actuated by bending the body part 6 through 90 degrees to a position where it can be locked relative to the holding plate 5.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1982Date of Patent: May 21, 1985Assignee: Ford Motor CompanyInventor: Norbert Beckmann

Patent number: 4513954Abstract: Damping core articulated joint for mechanical articulated arm systems subject to vibrations, in which the articulation of the articulated joint is passed through by a hole of cross-section other than circular, comprising an elastomer ring core passed through by a through hole of cross-section other than circular, the core outside having a central annular band of planar pattern, to which two annular ridges are connected as diverging from opposite sides relative to the central band, and a tubular insert also of not circular cross-section, inserted in the through hole of the ring core and made of a stiffer material than that of the elastomer.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1982Date of Patent: April 30, 1985Assignee: DAMP S.p.A.Inventor: Lorenzo Cantamessa

Patent number: 4509878Abstract: A mounting for a windshield wiper pivot shaft on a vehicle cowl panel includes a transmission having a housing defining a base surface and a tower projecting from the base surface, a bore through the tower for rotatably supporting the pivot shaft, a rectangular aperture in the cowl panel having a pivot edge, a circular aperture in the cowl panel overlapping the rectangular aperture, a lip on the housing at one end of the base surface, and protuberances on the housing on an imaginary circle having a radius corresponding to but slightly larger than the radius of the circular aperture. The transmission is mounted on the cowl panel by inserting the tower through the overlapped apertures, hooking the lip on the pivot edge, and pivoting the housing toward the cowl panel so that the protuberances engage the circular aperture in interference fit fashion to remove all clearance between the transmission and the cowl panel when the base surface abuts the cowl panel.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1983Date of Patent: April 9, 1985Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: Bruce A.
