  • Publication number: 20100194073
Abstract: Conventional linkages between bicycle handlebar-mounted controls and rear brakes and gears are unable to accommodate unlimited rotation of the handlebars as is required on some so-called “freestyle” bicycles. A prior attempt to solve the problem employs a linkage comprising a bearing having two parts that are relatively rotatable about an axis. However this proposal is unable to handle situations where there are two or more mechanisms to be controlled e.g. a rear brake and a gear. Another problem is that dirt between the bearing surfaces may cause the bearing to jam. The invention provides pins (15C) that fit into slots (8A) for restricting rotation, relative to the handlebars, of a first bearing part (15A) and pins (15F) that fit in slots (9A) for restricting rotation, relative to the bicycle frame, of a second bearing part (15B). The aforementioned slots are formed in cylindrical guide walls not visible in FIG. 5.

Abstract: A clamp system for attaching accessory devices to a railing structure includes a first clamping jaw member and a second clamping jaw member designed to clamp on a railing structure. An accessory mounting device includes a cylindrical collar portion with a plurality of diametrically aligned holes arranged around the circumference. One of the clamping jaw members has an opening, sized to receive the collar portion and one pair of holes that can be aligned with the holes of the collar portion. When the mounting device is in a desired orientation, a pin is inserted through the aligned holes to hold the orientation. A locking nut is mounted on a threaded portion of the collar portion and, when tightened, tends to withdraw the collar portion against the pin, firmly securing the assembly together.

  • Patent number: 7114872
Abstract: An omni-positional hoist ring wherein a shackle member is pivotally attached to a rotationally mounted lift body, the lift body is rotationally mounted on a flanged bushing, and the flanged bushing is mounted on a screw. Torque is applied to the screw by applying force to one or more axially projecting lugs. The lugs may be positioned on a collar that surrounds and is keyed to a mounting stud, or to a bar nut that is located on the distal end of mounting stud. A boss may be provided surrounding the axial bore of the collar. The purpose of the boss is to space the lifting fixture away from the axially projecting lugs on the radially outer periphery of the collar. When the axially extending lugs are on the outer periphery of a collar, torque is conveniently applied by striking the upstanding lugs with, for example, a hammer. Lugs on a bar nut a conveniently positioned to receive torque from a bar that is projected laterally between the lugs.

  • Patent number: 7036858
Abstract: A hoist ring assembly includes an annular body, a first axial bore generally concentric with a longitudinal axis and including diametrically opposed first and second sockets. A mounting assembly is provided for facilitating the mounting of the annular body onto an object. A U-shaped hoist ring member is provided and has remote ends formed into integral stub shaft members, the stub shaft members extending generally coaxially with and spaced from one another to define a co-axis therebetween. The stub shaft members are relatively rotatably received in the sockets. The peripheral surface of the stub shaft members each has an annular groove therein located within the socket. A radially inwardly extending member in each socket is received in each of the grooves to prevent the legs of the hoist ring member from spreading apart as well as removal of the stub shaft members from the sockets while maintaining the ability of the hoist ring to pivot about the aforesaid co-axis.
