Abstract: A combination cup and rod holder with an installation that does not require fasteners to be passed through a head of the holder. The combination cup and rod holder includes a holder portion with a head, a cup holder portion extending from the head, a tube, and a threaded portion extending at an angle from the cup holder portion. The combination cup and rod holder may also include a support that allows a force applied along the axis of the tube to affect a bottom of an installation surface parallel to the head, and a nut with threads that mate with the threaded portion. This allows the combination cup and rod holder to be used with a variable installation thickness.

A cutout (46) in the bushing receives a portion of the setscrew. Turning the setscrew pushes a front end of the setscrew against an abutment (47) of the bushing, pushing the first edge of the bushing into the ramp, which redirects the first end of the bushing radially inward against the axle when the setscrew is tightened, thus providing bearing resistance adjustment. The tangential orientation of the setscrew minimizes housing thickness required for the setscrew.

  • Patent number: 7637683
Abstract: A sliding structure and a joint member, which are provided with a sliding means which substantially eliminates the so-called Stick-Slip effect. This is achieved through the provision of free ends of a plurality of projections, sliding upon the surface of a complementary opposed and facing surface. By appropriately dimensioning the individual free end contact surfaces of the projections and by selectively varying in the number of the projections per area unit, the difference between the initial still-stand holding effect and the sliding friction in the case of selected material pairings is considerably reduced. The force, which is necessary to set the two sliding components into motion, relative to one another, is then only insignificantly greater than the force necessary to overcome dynamic or sliding friction. The Stick-Slip effect is known and unavoidable in a case with a sliding pair of unfavorable materials and, in this manner, can be effectively reduced.

Abstract: The invention is a snap locking angle adjustable device, particularly applicable to carpenter's squares. Carpenter's squares, being used in rough environment, must be simple to adjust while providing robust snap locking at high angle precision. Prior art attains this by protruding steel balls, attached around the pivot axis of the square's handle, pressed strongly against a hole punched area around the pivot axis of the square's blade-balls aligns to holes gives the snap locking. The problem is to simplify manufacturing. The invention comprises components with moulded alignment structures. These components are the complete pivot members (handle or blade) themselves, or are separately attached to the pivot members. The components, and optionally, are sandwiched, alignment structures against each other, and axially pressed together strongly by a spring held in compression by a press frame that also may constitute a pivot shaft for the pivot members.

The adjusting nut has at least one recess or projection arranged approximately radially with respect to the threaded coupling rod for locking engagement with the lock. An eccentric cam is rigidly connected to the arm for positively controlling displacement of the lock.

  • Patent number: 5766140
Abstract: An angular compensation hinge for a human joint brace, as well as the brace into which the hinge is incorporated, are described. The hinge's hinge pin and leaves cooperate with an arch bar through guide pins and a bi-threaded screw to provide angular compensation adjustment of the brace. The hinge can be easily operated by the user without assistance and by rotation of a single screw, either with a simple tool or through a knob, and provides for infinite angular adjustment over the entire adjustment range. Adjustments can be easily made while the user is wearing the brace. There is positive locking of the hinge at any angle within the range of adjustment. A few standard sizes of the brace will be sufficient to provide essentially customized fitting braces for virtually any person because of the "fine tuning" capability provided. The hinge may be used with many different types of braces, including those intended for knee, wrist, elbow, ankle, hip and shoulder joints.

  • Patent number: 5507584
Abstract: A swivel joint for an essentially rod-shaped object, such as, a tripod, a leg or a similar support or holder for devices, particularly for musical percussion instruments, includes two joint members which are movable relative to each other and can be locked by a clamping device. The clamping device is constructed in such a way that it can simultaneously be used for clamping the rod-shaped object. In an annular end face facing away from the stationary joint member, the ring has diametrically oppositely arranged prismatic radial recesses which correspond to openings in the wall of the sleeve. When the radial recesses and the wall openings are in an aligned position, the rod-shaped object can be inserted into the swivel joint, such that the rod-shaped object extends through the radial recesses of the ring and the axial wall openings of the sleeve.
