Strip Or Filler Plus Supporting Bracket Patents (Class 404/68)
  • Patent number: 10087591
Abstract: An expansion joint system for bridging a gap between spaced apart structural members and for accommodating transverse movement. The expansion joint system includes a plurality of finger plates carrying a plurality of elongated fingers that are configured to at least partially extend across an expansion joint gap from opposing structural members. The finger plates are pivotably mounted to the underlying structural members to permit pivoting or rotating movement in the transverse direction. A torsion spring is engaged with the pivotable finger plates and provides a restoring force to the finger plate when the finger plate rotates relative to the spring. Also disclosed is an expansion joint including spaced-apart structural members and the expansion joint system installed in the joint.

Before pouring in the granulates and binder, reinforcements are laid in the trench which are attached to the two structural elements at either end of the closure member. These reinforcements are perforated to allow the granulates to pass through. They therefore provide reinforcement for the joint in areas where there is a risk of tearing due to traction forces which tend to move the elements apart.

With curved band sections and rubber elements between the angle elements and a curved jointing compound section which is attached to the upper band section there is provided a supporting, power-compensating and power-distributing function when the joint is subjected to load, both at compression, expansion and shearing, providing a tight, reliable and loadable joint with good fatigue strength.

Abstract: An expansion joint retainer is used in fastening a flexible elastomeric seal or strip seal to a structural slab. The retainer has a main body made from a first material. The main body has a thickness selected to permit emplacement of the retainer on the edge of a slab whereby the upper surface of the main body is substantially coplanar with or beneath the upper traffic bearing surface of the slab. The retainer includes a retaining element adjacent the lower surface of the main body. The retaining element is made of a second material serving to provide the retainer with sufficient rigidity to be bolted to a slab. The invention is characterized in that the second material is a thermoplastic elastomer.

Abstract: An elastomeric sealing apparatus for waterproofing a joint opening between two generally parallel structural members in highways, bridges, parking structures and the like. The sealing apparatus comprises an elongated web shaped elastomeric body member which assumes a bowed contour after installation and which spans a joint opening defined by the faces of two confronting structural members such as roadway slabs or the like. The body member has side flaps extending integrally along each longitudinal edge thereof. The side flaps are adapted by steps and outward bias for adhesive bonding to the joint faces so as to provide watertightness, easy installation, and long term resistance to climatic conditions and structural movements.

The forms also provide transversely spaced holes through which smooth rods or rebar may be inserted to firmly hold the form in a vertical manner and yet allow the concrete slabs to expand and contract.
