Patent number: 8974144Abstract: Systems, devices, apparatus, and methods of locking and unlocking a door that is slidable by articulating wheels in tracks, over an entry port to a storm water structure. Locking the door can be accomplished by rotating bolts that are attached to cams. Rotating the bolts causes the cams to press the door against the tracks. Sealing strips can be compressed between door edges and the track to prevent water from passing around the door. A vacuum truck can remove water and debris from the vault/structure. Other versions allow doors to move downward to allow water to overflow the door. The door can slide upward so water can flow underneath. A door in door version has a secondary door slide up and down in tracks in a main door.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 2014Date of Patent: March 10, 2015Inventor: Tom Happel

Patent number: 8393827Abstract: Systems, devices, apparatus, and methods of locking and unlocking a door that is slidable through tracks, over an entry port to a storm water type vault or storm water structure. Locking the door in place can be accomplished by rotating upwardly protruding bolt type heads that are fixably attached to cams. Rotating the bolt type heads causes the cams to press the door against one side of the tracks. An elongated sealing strip can be compressed between the door edges and the one side of the track and seal and prevent water from passing about the sides of the door. Alternatively, removable wedges can be used to compress door edges in place. Furthermore, a hinged pressure relief door can be attached over a small opening in the slidable door. Opening the small pressure relief door by an elongated tool allows for water on both sides of the sliding door to equalize.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2009Date of Patent: March 12, 2013Inventor: Tom Happel

Patent number: 7972081Abstract: A sea wall system incorporated into a continuous and foundation supported structure, including a plurality of panels which are displaced in either of vertical or horizontal fashion from interior locations associated with the foundation structure. The panels are each constructed of a lightweight and fluid resistant material and are each displaceable from a first retracted position to an extended position, whereby the components collectively establish a heightened water barrier. A fluid communicating opening is defined in the foundation support and, in response to a rising water level, vertically displaces the panels.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2008Date of Patent: July 5, 2011Assignee: Oria Collapsibles, LLCInventor: Miguel A. Patent number: 6287051Abstract: A fixable-seal sluice gate has a valve vise (18, 19, 25, 26, 31, 32) that forces a sluice-gate valve uniformly and tightly in sealing-surface contact with a domed seal ring (4) that is fixable conveniently and removably intermediate a sluice-gate plate (3) and a sluice-gate wall (1) of a sluice-gate flange that encompasses a valve side of a sluice-gate aperture (2). A plate locator on the valve vice sets the sluice-gate plate in predetermined sealing-contact position for select structure of the fixable-seal sluice gate. The domed seal ring is a plastic material such as Hypalon® having predetermined toughness to resist particle embedment in combination with having predetermined softness for select uses and objectives. A dome flange (5, 6) on one or both sides of a base of the domed seal ring is bracketed removably to optionally the sluice-gate wall or the sluice-gate plate for rigid, reliable, long-enduring and yet quick and convenient attachment and detachment of the domed seal ring.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 1999Date of Patent: September 11, 2001Inventors: Jeffrey A. Patent number: 4832527Abstract: A vertically reciprocable gate assembly which includes a frame surrounding a port and a gate having a gate member connected by links to an actuating member which is slidably connected to the frame with the gate member between it and the frame. Unless the gate is closed, the gate member is held against the actuating member and out of sealing contact with the frame. When the gate is lowered, it engages a stop which establishes a predetermined position of the gate member relative to the port, further downward movement of the actuating member causes the links to thrust the gate member into its operative position.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1987Date of Patent: May 23, 1989Assignee: Bachmann Company, Inc.Inventor: Lothar Bachmann

Patent number: 4582451Abstract: A floodgate structure is disclosed for closing of an hydraulic flow channel at selected times, as during flooding conditions. A gate panel is normally loosely and slideably received in a recess below grade level. To render the gate operational, it is lifted into a channel-blocking position. Pneumatically inflatable peripheral sealing elements extend from the water side of the panel into sealing contact with a fixed support structure. The opposite side of the panel supports a flexible but noninflatable sealing skirt element, which is pressed into sealing contact with the supporting structure by expansion of the inflatable elements. When thus positioned, the sealing skirt becomes hydrostatically loaded by the pressure of the water and functions as an effective seal in the event of subsequent failure of the pneumatically expandable elements.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1984Date of Patent: April 15, 1986Assignee: The Presray CorporationInventor: Theodore C. Hollander, Jr.

Patent number: 4288059Abstract: Apparatus for controlling fluid flow through a gate opening includes frame means that define the opening, and guide means which are adapted to retain a gate disc in slidable relation with the opening. Drawing means for laterally displacing the disc relative to the opening are pivotably connected to lever means having long and short ends. A fulcrum between the ends is pivotably connected to the disc. The short end is disposed to bear against a fixed portion of the guide means when the disc is closed, and the long end is connected to the drawing means to obtain a mechanical advantage in drawing pressure when displacing the disc to a partially open position. The lever means may be a single lever, but a preferred embodiment discloses a pair of levers to apply a uniform drawing pressure on the disc via a hydraulic cylinder that is anchored in a wall of a closed tank which contains the apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1979Date of Patent: September 8, 1981Inventor: Florian Gurbin

Patent number: 4265564Abstract: A sluice gate assembly has a metal frame surrounding an opening and a metal gate disc mounted for movement between open and closed positions along guides on the frame. The gate disc carries a resilient deformable seal which cooperates in sealing engagement with a plastic seat face on the frame when the gate disc is in the closed position. The sealing interface between the resilient deformable seal and the plastic seat face is arranged at an angle relative to the line of travel of the gate disc along the guides, and the guides are mounted for adjustable movement towards and away from the frame seat face.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 1979Date of Patent: May 5, 1981Assignee: Rodney Hunt CompanyInventor: Robert P.
