  • Patent number: 11040826
Abstract: A portable hazardous spill or waste water, ground containment system adapted for receipt on a ground surface. The containments system can have various geometric configurations, such as a circle shape or an oval shape. The containment system includes a plurality of spaced apart, vertical metal posts and a plurality of horizontal plastic straps. The straps are disposed one on top of each other. The vertical metal posts are used to hold the plastic straps around a circumference of the containment system. A plastic liner is disposed over the ground surface inside the containment system. A top portion of the liner is attached to a top of the vertical metal posts. The liner is adapted for receiving various types of equipment, tanks and containers holding different types of toxic chemicals, waste water, and other liquid materials.

  • Patent number: 10087593
Abstract: A reusable flood barrier that may be easily collapsed and deployed is disclosed. The barrier may comprise a flexible sheet, a plurality of parallel wall support members, a plurality of parallel base support members, a limiter configured to hold the wall up relative to the base in an erected configuration, and a hinge. After closing the barrier at the hinge, the barrier may be rolled up for easy portability and storage. The barrier is flexible, and while erected it can bend to form convex or concave curves in the barrier wall to enable construction of a flood barrier that goes around corners.

  • Patent number: 7121764
Abstract: A portable flood barrier section is located on a ground (2) to form a barrier (3) against flooding water (4), comprising an erectable wall (5) which along one of its edges (6) is hinged to a basis. The hinge (7) enables a rotating erection (A) of the wall (5) from an essentially horizontal position to an erected position. A flexible or rigid tie (8, 9), which extends from the basis to the wall (5) on the flooded side (10) of the wall (5), prevents an erection of the wall (5) beyond the erected position. A seal (12) is in the erected position of the flood barrier section (1) located between the flood barrier section and the ground (2). The flood barrier section (1) is adapted to, prior to flooding, to expose the seal (12) to a positive sealing pressure exceeding a pressure caused by the weight of the flood barrier section (1). The invention also relates to a flood barrier (3) comprising flood barrier sections (1).

  • Publication number: 20030161688
Abstract: A portable flood control revetment comprising an elongated collapsible and inflatable tube of flexible material impervious to air and water, the tube having a bottom wall and other walls defining an internal compartment, and a multiplicity of cables in the compartment, each extending from one of the walls to another of the walls to hold the tube in a selected shape when the tube is filled with air or water. The bottom wall defines at least one pocket for receiving a corresponding at least one hold-down member, and other of the walls are provided with closeable orifices for permitting flow of air and water into and out of the compartment to respectively inflate, fill, and collapse the tube.

  • Patent number: 6413014
Abstract: A damming device for forming a liquid-damming protective bank comprises at least one first board (1), in the active state laying, intended to be urged by the liquid against the surface and thereby anchoring the device, as well as at least a second board (2), in the active state up-right, intended to dam the liquid. There are liquid-draining means (5) on the bottom side of the anchoring board (1). Devices (9, 9′) act between the two boards (1, 2) with the purpose of inhibiting tilting of the damming board (2) from the active position in the direction towards the dry the side, when liquid simultaneously affects the anchoring board (1) with a vertical force and the damming board (2) with a horizontal force.

  • Patent number: 6210072
Abstract: The present invention is a device and a method for protecting part of a coastline against erosion. The method uses the device as an elongated fin with a longitudinal axis lying generally in a horizontal plane. The fin is supported by a suspension arrangement so that it can swing in the horizontal plane. Adjusting the longitudinal axis of the fin, in the horizontal plane, causes the fin to deflect from the water flow a component that counteracts with a generally coast-parallel water flow component. This component originates from the water flow and/or from a wave that is not parallel with the coastline. The fin is carried by a suspension arrangement which enables the fin to swing in the horizontal plane. The suspension arrangement is constructed to increase the fin angle relative to the coastline when the direction of the waves relative to the coastline increases, and to decrease the fin angle relative to the coastline when the direction of the waves relative to the coastline decreases.

  • Patent number: 6193938
Abstract: A device for treating waste water with UV-radiation is in the form of an upwardly open channel with a bottom surface and two vertical side walls, which includes a UV-irradiation chamber and a downstream outlet chamber adjoining the UV chamber. UV-radiation sources are installed in the irradiation chamber. A damming wall terminating the outlet chamber is in the form of an extension of the channel bottom raised upwardly in a slanted way at a flat angle to the direction of flow. A multitude of tubes extending perpendicular to the direction of flow of the waste water are present on the slanted damming wall. These tubes are open at both ends. The top ends of the tubes form overflow edges for the waste water. The damming wall has openings in the locations where the tubes are secured on the damming wall. These openings correspond to the cross sections of the tubes, so that the waste water flowing across the overflow edges of the tubes can drain off through the openings.
