Having Coil Spring Patents (Class 405/214)
  • Publication number: 20120076590
Abstract: A protective device (1) of the “floating barrier” type for preventing a floating body from colliding with a construction includes a barrier element (2) consisting of a cable provided with floats (4), each of the two ends (2a) of which cable is connected to a respective one of the posts (3), and at least one of which ends is connected to the respective one of the posts (3) via an energy-dissipation system (5). The energy-dissipation system (5) advantageously includes: at least one chain having a segment that is folded in half, being made up of links that are connected together in pairs by breakable ties; and at least one spring member.

  • Patent number: 6513449
Abstract: A marine docking device according to the present invention includes a fender having a first end coupled to a first arm by a first attachment member and a second end coupled to a second arm by a second attachment member. The first attachment member and the second attachment member are configured to prevent the fender from rotating about a longitudinal axis that passes through the first end and the second end. The first arm includes a compression assembly that facilitates movement of the first end between a first position and a second position. The compression assembly includes a tubular member that is slidable within a sleeve. A spring is compressed between a first spring abutment provided on the sleeve and a second spring abutment provided on the tubular member. The first spring abutment is continuously urged toward an advanced position by the spring.

  • Patent number: 5183694
Abstract: There is disclosed apparatus of and a method for inhibiting corossion of reinforcement in a reinforced structure wherein one or more anodes (3) are arranged adjacent a surface of the structure (1) to be protected and a body of ionically conductive cementitious material (6) is arranged to suround the anodes and make contact with ionically conductive cementitious material of the structure (1), said body of ionically conductive cementitious material (6) being surrounded by a cover (4) of moisture resistant substantially non-porous material to maintain said material (6) in an ionically conducting condition. Said electrodes (3) and reinforcement (2) within the body (1) can be electrically connected to cause a current to pass through said two sorts of ionically conductive cementitious material to protect the reinforcement (2) against electrolytic corrosion.
