Patent number: 11867062Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a construction method for a deformable anchor cable capable of being prestressed. The anchor cable includes an outer sleeve, a shrinkage pipe, an inner sleeve, a steel strand, an anchor and a tray. When the anchor cable is in use, a hole is drilled first, then the anchor cable is mounted in the drilled hole, and finally a prestress is applied to the steel strand of the anchor cable. According to the construction method, the construction is convenient; the anchor cable has the characteristics of high strength and large deformation, and can be easily prestressed; and the large deformation is realized by squeezing the inner sleeve by means of the anchor, which completely overcomes the problem of breaking a cold-drawn rod during the large deformation process.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2022Date of Patent: January 9, 2024Assignee: Fuzhou UniversityInventors: Xuezhen Wu, Yujing Jiang, Tao Deng, Gang Wang, Zhenchang Guan, Qing Ye

Patent number: 7037046Abstract: The present invention discloses a rock bolt having a tendon (1, 201) which is able to yield and thereby control movement of unstable rock strata into which the bolt is installed. The tendon has a portion which is provided with a grout slippage mechanism, preferably in the form of a tube (8) which surrounds the tendon. A two part grout anchor (10, 100, 200) is clamped to the tendon. The grout anchor is embedded in grout and is therefore essentially immovable. The tendon passing through the anchor is worked and thereby dissipates energy. The tendon can be either a multi-strand cable (1) or a solid bar (200). Various forms of anchor (10, 200) are disclosed with either complementary recess(es) (14) and protrusion(s) (15) or opposed protrusions (115) which form pinch point(s). A one piece grout anchor (300) is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2004Date of Patent: May 2, 2006Inventor: Jeffrey Robert Fergusson

Patent number: 6863476Abstract: A mobile system for manufacturing and installing rock reinforcing members in mining and tunnel construction applications where a plurality of holes are drilled into the rock and each hole receives a reinforcing member and grout. The reinforcing member can be steel strand or some other suitable material. The system has a plurality of cooperating devices, all mounted to a mobile self-propelled platform. The devices comprise a spool of reinforcing material, a motivating device for drawing material from of the spool through the system, a measuring device, a crimping device to give the steel strands a corrugated shape, an articulating arm with a guide head to guide the material into the drill hole and a cutter to cut the material into strands of desired length. A plurality of strands can be installed in a given drill hole. The system also includes apparatus for grouting the drill holes using either a cementacious grout or a polyester resin grout. Methods of making and grouting the reinforcing member are disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 2001Date of Patent: March 8, 2005Assignee: Langford Industries, Ltd.Inventor: Michael Malkoski

Patent number: 6684585Abstract: An anchorage for a post-tension system including an anchor body having an interior cavity and a generally flat end surface, a tendon extending through the interior cavity of the anchor body, a plurality of wedges in interference-fit relationship between a wall of the interior cavity and a surface of the tendon, a cap member positioned outwardly of the flat end surface, and a ring juxtaposed against the inner surface of the cap member. The ring is physically deformed so as to provide a visual indication of a desired amount of tension applied to the tendon. The ring is received within an annular slot formed in the flat end surface of the anchor body.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2001Date of Patent: February 3, 2004Inventor: Robert Campbell

Patent number: 6612783Abstract: A mixing delay device for use with tensionable cable bolts wherein the mixing delay device compresses or is uncompressed in response to a compression force applied to the mixing delay device, wherein the mixing delay device increases resin mixing time, provides a visual indication of tensioning, and helps to reduce de-tensioning of the tensionable cable bolt.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2002Date of Patent: September 2, 2003Assignee: Jennmar CorporationInventors: John C. Patent number: 6561721Abstract: A cable bolt comprises a cable with a tubular yielding fixture at one of its ends. The pull-off load of such yielding fixture can be adjusted to a desired value. This is achieved by unwinding one end of the cable and inserting a slug over the kingwire. Then, the peripheral wires are wound again over the kingwire forming a bulge in the cable where the slug is located. The yielding fixture is then slid on the cable and forced over the bulged portion of the cable, while measuring the load required to achieve this operation, which also becomes the pull-off load of the yielding fixture. Finally, any part of the cable protruding from the fixture is cut-off to form the cable bolt with the desired yielding fixture at its end.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2001Date of Patent: May 13, 2003Assignee: Mine Design Technologies Inc.Inventors: Peter Lausch, Andrew J. Patent number: 6435778Abstract: A truss system for supporting a face of a passage in a geological structure, such as a mine roof. A truss support bracket is carried on the proximal end of an anchor positioned adjacent each of a pair of spaced boreholes formed in the face or mine roof. At least one of the brackets includes a retainer, such as a split wedge retainer, for receiving a corresponding end of a truss member, such as an elongated cable, spanning across the adjacent face. A rotary fastener threaded to the proximal end of each anchor holds each bracket in place. Using a motive device, such as the rotational socket on a bolting machine, a selected one of the fasteners is rotated such that the corresponding bracket is drawn along the anchor and at least partially into the borehole to tension the truss member. To provide the desired support, one or more plates are carried on the truss member engage the face once tensioning is complete.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2000Date of Patent: August 20, 2002Assignee: Triad Support Systems, Inc.Inventor: William G. Patent number: 6428243Abstract: A cable bolt (10) for use in mining excavations comprising a plurality of generally closely spaced wires or strands (11) which have a first end for fitting into a bore hole (21) formed in an excavation and a second end which is terminated within a cylindrical sleeve (17). The sleeve (17) has a threaded external surface for receiving a lock nut (18) which is tightened against a bearing plate (19) so as to tension the cable bolt (10). The wires or strands (11) are separated outwardly from a central longitudinal axis of the cable bolt (10) at spaced locations along the length of the cable bolt to form a “bird cage” (13) at each location. Spacers (14) are provided at each location to cause the outward separation of the wires or strands (11). A central tubular member (12) extends along the axis through the sleeve (17) and each spacer (14).Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1999Date of Patent: August 6, 2002Assignee: Quantax PTY LTDInventor: Warwick Bernard Hutchins

Patent number: 6402433Abstract: A tensionable mine roof bolt is constructed of multi-strand steel cable. The head end of the bolt is formed of an outer sleeve that is externally threaded at least part of the way from the end, in order to accept a conventional tension nut. The cable bolt shaft includes an enlarged section that is slightly larger than the diameter of the axial bore through the bolt head sleeve so that the cable enlarged section interferes with the bolt head sleeve as the enlarged section is pressed into the outer sleeve to form the cable bolt. The cable enlarged section is formed by the addition of a spacer sleeve around the cable center strand (king wire) and between the cable center strand and peripheral strands, or by the addition of a cable sleeve around the cable at the appropriate location.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2000Date of Patent: June 11, 2002Inventor: H.
