Abstract: The subject matter of the application is a device for pneumatically or hydraulic feeding of dust-like, powdery or granulated bulk goods which has a feed line with an inner pipe mounted therein extending concentrically thereto, being provided with outlet and inlet openings. In order subject the bulk goods in the feed line of such a device to a continuous strong turbulence, so that no plugs of goods can form, but on the other hand to have the possibility to dissolve such plugs of goods if they form it is provided as a solution that a vertically disposed disk (5) is provided in the inner pipe (2) between an outlet and an inlet opening (3,4) which is provided with at least one opening (6) which preferably consists of a circular hole, being provided in the center of disk (5), or which consists of a slot (13). Thereby, the disk (5) may be eccentrically disposed between the outlet opening and inlet opening (3,4) and may be exchangeably mounted in inner pipe (2).

Abstract: A method of unblocking conveying pipes (3) for particulate material comprises feeding air to the pipe at spaced apart positions therealong in order to reduce the length of the blocking material. The air is injected into the pipe at positions which are preferably spaced apart by a distance less than the critical particulate material plug length to conveying pipe diameter ratio that will result in a pipe blockage that cannot be moved by application of pressure applied to one end of the particulate material plug. Apparatus for carrying out the method is also described.
Abstract: Method and device for pneumatic feeding of materials to be conveyed along a feeding line (10) supplied continually with conveying gas from conveying gas lines (18) discharging into the feeding line and spaced consecutively apart from each other. Each gas line (18) has at a distance from its opening (28) a short cross-sectional constriction (20), in the area of which the velocity of the conveying gas is increased to the velocity of sound and decreased again before the opening (28). A plurality of gas lines (18) are fed from a common supply line (16, 17) which runs adjacent to the feeding line (10). The gas lines (18) open into the feeding line (10) at an acute angle of approx. 35.degree. and have two sections (21, 23) detachably connected with each other by a sealing screw connection (24), an apertured diaphragm, forming the cross-sectional constriction (20), and a filter (22) being held interchangeably by the screw connection.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for conveying fluid materials utilizing a venturi having a side opening in the venturi throat section which is opened and closed by pulsing motive fluid into the venturi past a flutter valve, comprising a flexible piece of material attached upstream of the side opening so as to be capable of opening and closing the side opening, thereby admitting slugs of fluid material and forcing the string of slugs through the apparatus.
Abstract: The plugging of fluidized solids in long transfer lines is a particularly troublesome problem from an operational standpoint. Obstructions are cleared by closing off the transfer line at both ends, introducing an inert (non-deleterious) gas into the conduit at a few atmospheres pressure above the pressure at the conduit output, maintaining the gas pressure for a time to allow pressure equilization along the conduit, and thereafter opening the conduit outlet to permit the plugged solids to refluidize and then clear the line.
Abstract: An arrangement for hydraulic transport of precipitator dust in a precipitator plant, which is provided with several hoppers. These are consecutively arranged in flow direction of the gas to be cleaned passing through precipitator cells. The hoppers are located underneath a discharge device, and are provided with a sluice chamber having an inlet for rinse water and an outlet for a mixture of rinse water and precipitator dust. The exit of the sluice chamber of the rear hopper, in gas flow direction, is connected with the inlet of the sluice chamber of the preceding hopper by one sluiceway each. The sluice chamber of the last hopper, only, is supplied with fresh rinse water. The outlet gutter following the exit of the sluice chamber of the first hopper, may be closed by a weight-loaded flap.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for the pneumatic conveyance of bulk material and like products in a horizontal or inclined feed pipe which is filled with the product and is supplied with a gas along its length. The feed pipe has an elongated single chamber with an inlet and an outlet. The inlet is constructed so that the product will continuously flow into the inlet under the force of gravity. A plurality of individual percolation inlets are provided and which communicate with the lower region of the feed pipe. Each of the percolation inlets is connected to a gas supply.
Abstract: Apparatus for assisting the pneumatic conveying of generally dry particulate matter through a closed conduit is disclosed. The apparatus is for use where vacuum pressure applied at one end of the conduit creates a suction force which moves the dry particulate matter through the conduit, and involves the use of a small tube or the like for injecting a gaseous fluid under positive pressure into the particulate matter to loosen it and enable it to be conveyed through the conduit.
Abstract: A pneumatic conveying system includes a conveying conduit, a gas conduit which communicates with it at least at one juncture, and a release valve at the juncture. The release valve includes a housing connected with the conveying conduit and the gas conduit, a flexible diaphragm secured to the housing and subdividing the same into one chamber communicating with the gas conduit and another chamber connected with the conveying conduit, the diaphragm having a substantially central opening, a valve-seat member connected to and movable with the diaphragm in response to flexing of the same and forming a valve seat surrounding the opening, a valve member carried by the housing and located in the one chamber, means guiding the valve seat member for movement relative to the valve member between a valve-opening and a valve-closing position, and valve-closing spring means located in the one chamber and permanently tending to urge the valve-seat member to the valve-closing position thereof.
