Abstract: A cutting tool includes a main body suitable to be mounted pivotably about an axis of rotation. A cutting head is carried by a carrying member. The carrying member is mounted displaceably in translation on the main body along an axis perpendicular to the axis of rotation. A counterweight is displaceably mounted in translation on the main body along an axis perpendicular to the axis of rotation. The cutting tool also includes an adjusting spindle for the simultaneous adjustment of the carrying member with respect to the counterweight, arranged on either side of the axis of rotation of the main body.

Abstract: An indexable cutting insert which presents a rake face and a flank face which intersect to form a generally circular cutting edge. At least one of the flank face and the rake face has a visually perceivable indicia thereon so as to indicate a plurality of discrete indexable positions of the cutting insert.

Abstract: A cutting tool holder assembly comprises a body having a shaft non-rotatably mounted therein for axial movement to enable adjustment of a cutting tool on a cutting tool holder member carried by the shaft. Strain gauge elements are mounted on a blade which is arranged to be deflected upon relative movement between the shaft and the body. The strain gauge elements produce an output signal proportional to the deflection of the blade.
