Abstract: A cutting tool for tube cutting machines includes a tool holder and a dismountable holder blade having replaceable cutting inserts. The tool holder includes a basic body, as well as a support body for the holder blade. There is arranged between the basic body and the support body a set-up body, by means of which the support body, and thereby the holder blade, can be set and fixed in the exact, desired spatial positions in the machine without time-consuming measuring and fine adjustment operations. In addition, the holder blade is fixed in the support body by means of a single simple screw, which allows a flexible mounting and dismounting of the same.

Abstract: The invention relates to a machine tool with an adjustable cutting plate. The rotating machine tool substantially comprises a base member with a rotating axis, at least one pocket formed in the base member and at least one blade support holding a cutting plate. Two side surfaces of the blade support sit against a side support surface, respectively, said blade support side surfaces making an angle between them, and the base of the blade support sits against a base support surface of the pocket, the blade support being clamped in the pocket removably by way of a clamp element. The cutting plate protrudes over the blade support with an effective blade and over the base member outward.

  • Patent number: 5857811
Abstract: For the purpose of rigid connection of the cutter holder (9) to the tool carrier (5), the tool carrier (5) has a driving key (11) on its end side, which driving key is inserted into a corresponding transverse groove (13). The driving key (11) has a specified excess size compared to the transverse groove (13), such that when a setscrew (10) is tightened the tool carrier (5) and the cutter holder (9) are elastically deformed. Laterally next to the transverse groove (13) the surface of the cutter holder (9) is supported on the tool carrier (5).

  • Patent number: 5120166
Abstract: A broaching tool has at least one adjustable cutting blade or plate. A two-fold adjustment is possible by mounting each cutting blade on an upper section of an insert mounted in a recess of a support or support ring sector. The upper insert section is secured to a lower insert section. The lower insert section is radially adjustable. The upper insert section is axially adjustable. Each adjustment can be made independently of the other adjustment.

  • Patent number: 4893967
Abstract: A cutting-tool cartridge arrangement for rotary cutting tools in which the cutting-tool cartridge assembly is mountable in an aperture in the cutting-tool body member. The cartridge assembly has an annular split bushing for insertion into the tool body aperture, has internal threads and a slot in the wall to provide a pair of opposed surfaces resiliently movable towards and away from each other. A set screw aperture is provided in the tool body member. The stud seat is threaded into the split bushing. The stud seat has a cutting insert end having matching walls that match the wall configuration of the mounting walls of a frustum cutting insert. A clamping nut threadingly engages the stud seat threaded walls at the cutting insert end thereof and has internal walls configured to match the cutting inserts flank surface. Tightening the clamping nut on the stud seat clamps the frustum cutting insert therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4847975
Abstract: A boring tool is made from simple bar stock without significant external machining of the tool body. By providing a longitudinal bore which intersects a transverse slot, a longitudinally slidable wedge with splines can cooperate with a disc carried by a tool bar slidably received in the transverse slot. To ensure the most precise alignment between splines of the wedge and splines of a cooperating disc in the tool bar, the disc of the tool bar is attached to the tool bar with epoxy cement while the splines of the disc are engaged with the splines of the wedge. With the splines of the wedge being angularly offset from the longitudinal axis of the wedge, translation of the wedge will ensure accurately controlled movement of the tool bar.

  • Patent number: 4761103
Abstract: A boring head having a diametrical bore adjacent the working end thereof for insertion and removal of two or more interchangeable cutter holders. The cutter holders are restrained against rotational movement within the bore but not axial movement, whereby rotation of a first drive member having threaded engagement with an internally threaded longitudinal bore in the cutter holder will cause radial adjustment of the cutter holder relative to the boring head. Rotation of the first device member is accomplished by rotation of a second drive member having a gear drive connection with the first drive member. A first micrometer dial on the outer end of the first drive member provides for rough orientation of the cutter holder during such radial adjustment thereof, whereas a second micrometer dial on the outer end of the second drive member provides for extremely precise measurements of such radial adjustment.

  • Patent number: 4288184
Abstract: The shaft (1) of the drilling tool has a support (3) fixed in a cylindrical blind hole (2) by means of a fixing screw (10). The support has a rear cylindrical portion (3a) and a forward half-cylindrical portion (3b). The forward portion has a replaceable cutting insert (4) fixed in it by means of a clamping screw (8). This is screwed into a first thread (9) of the support, and this thread extends perpendicularly to the seating (5) provided for the replaceable cutting insert. The support has a second thread (9) running parallel to the first thread and this locates the fixing screw which is screwed into the support from below passing through an oblong hole (11) in the shaft. The base (2a) of the blind hole is provided with an adjusting screw (12) which is arranged so as to be displaced from its axil.

  • Patent number: 4111083
Abstract: A tool holder adapted to be swivelly mounted on a lathe turret includes an open channel to horizontally support an elongated cutting tool projecting outwardly to operate on a rotating workpiece. Dowels are insertable in aligned holes vertically defined at predetermined locations through the tool holder. The placement of two pins in a desired alignment relative to a line of reference permits the adjustment of the tool holder upon the face of the turret to locate the tool horizontally at a selected angle with the workpiece. Snap rings are close fitted to the dowels so as to frictionally engage the dowel along its length, fixing the position of the dowels in the vertical holes. In a particular embodiment the lower surface of the tool channel is coplanar with the mounting surface of the tool holder. A shim can be inserted to raise the lower channel surface to accommodate the centerline requirements of lathes designed for larger diameter tools.
