Abstract: A threading assembly including biasing means for biasing a threading tap or die in a selected direction and a reversible ratchet assembly for applying a torque about an axis coinciding with the axis of the tap or die. An alignment guide concentrically aligns both the axis of the torque and the downward bias, and a threading chuck is secured to the ratchet assembly for clamping the threading tap or die therein. The longitudinal axis of the threading tap or the central axis of the threading die coincides with the axis of the forces applied to its.
Abstract: The tapping drill having a drive shaft driven with an alternating rotational movement, comprises, disposed between this drive shaft and the tool carrier, a ratchet mechanism capable, at will, of transforming the alternating rotational motion into a rotating movement by successive impulses in one direction or the other. The ratchet mechanism comprises a dog with spring extending through an annular member integral with the tool carrier, this dog bearing in an axial groove formed in an interior member integral with the drive shaft, in which interior member there can successively be distinguished three parts:a first part comprising solely the groove;a second part in which the groove is flanked by a cut-away on one side,a third part in which the groove is flanked by a cut-away on the other side, the dog being able to slide freely into the cut-aways and to be displaced along the groove. The dog is displaced along the groove by a control member bearing with play in an annular groove formed in the annular member.
Abstract: A hand drill and adapter includes an elongated adapter body which is threaded at one end and given a tapered socket at the other end. The adapter body is configured externally such that is can receive standard wrench and ratchet heads. A threaded stud member is provided which is threadable into the threaded end of the adapter body. A spring-loaded center punch is carried at one end of the threaded stud member and a cap member is removably positionable on the stud member over the center punch. The adapter body is given a set screw to releasably retain the shank of a drill bit within the socket. In a preferred arrangement the cap member is provided with handle elements to facilitate drilling in confined areas.
