  • Patent number: 12151293
Abstract: The combination tool (2), in particular a drilling/chamfering tool, comprises a drill (6) extending in the longitudinal direction (4) with a clamping sleeve (8), which is designed to receive the drill (6) and fasten the drill (6) at a variable length and which has a holding seat (38) for a cutting insert (12). The drill (6) comprises a cutting region (22) provided with grooves (14), wherein the grooves (14) extend helically and are formed between two grooves (14) drill backs (18). At least one of the drill backs (18) is partially flattened to form an adjustment surface (16) for the cutting insert (12), wherein the adjustment surface (16) extends helically. As a result, a length adjustment over a large length range is made possible independently of the twist angle (?).

  • Patent number: 9555483
Abstract: A cutting tool utilizing a replaceable blade has a body which defines a blade-accepting pocket having an interior within which the body of the blade is nestingly accepted when inserted within the pocket and for releasable securement of the blade within the blade-accepting pocket. Furthermore, the blade-accepting pocket includes an abutment surface against which a surface of the blade body bears against when the cutting edge of the blade is moved into cutting engagement with an item being cut with the tool.

  • Patent number: 8876444
Abstract: A depth limiting device for a boring tool having stop collar includes housing and a sleeve. The housing provides snap on attachment onto the stop collar, allowing for a free axial rotation of the said housing around the body of the stop collar. The housing and the sleeve have a threaded engagement for adjusting position relative to one another and thereby adjusting length of the working portion of boring tool. Coupled housing and sleeve are freely rotatable with respect to the body of the stop collar and cease to rotate when operator achieves desirable depth of drilling and the device is pressed against the work-piece surface. The structural interrelationship prevents marring of the surface of the work-piece.

  • Patent number: 7147409
Abstract: A combination tool for drilling a bore and countersink for that bore includes a countersink member. The countersink member comprises a longitudinal sleeve with a first end and a second end. The sleeve contains a longitudinal bore through the sleeve from the first end to the second end sized to receive a drill bit. A radial slot through the wall of the sleeve is in communication with the longitudinal bore. The sleeve has a cutting edge connected to the first end of the sleeve. A collar containing a radial bore through its wall is slidably inserted over the sleeve. The radial bore is in communication with the radial slot of the countersink member. A fastening mechanism extends through the radial bore of the collar and slot of the countersink member to engage the drill bit inserted through the longitudinal bore of the countersink member and thus secure the drill bit, countersink member and collar relative to one another.

  • Patent number: 5853271
Abstract: A rotating shaft tool has a base body, with a guide slot in the base body, in which at least one elongate cutting blade can be arranged. An axial adjustment means which can be arranged at the mouth of the guide slot and by means of which the cutting blade can be adjusted axially in the guide slot. At least one spherical force exerting element, capable of moving the cutting blade in the axial direction, can be arranged at one end face of the cutting blade. Its axial displacement can be adjusted by means of at least one second force exerting element which deviates from the direction of movement of the first spherical force exerting element.

  • Patent number: 5820318
Abstract: A drilling tool for drilling in metals has in its front part cutting insert-carrying cartridges, for instance 3, 5 or 7 in number. The peripheral cartridge (6) carries a peripheral cutting insert (7). This peripheral cartridge is fastened in the drill by a locking screw (16) that extends in a slot (17) in the drillhead. Radially inside of the peripheral cartridge is a wedge (15) which can be displaced axially and thereby regulate the radial position of the peripheral cartridge and cutting insert and, thereby, the cutting diameter. When the desired radial adjustment has been attained, the peripheral cutting insert is fixed by the locking screw (16). In this way, a very exact adjustment of the cutting diameter is obtained.

  • Patent number: 4930948
Abstract: A valve seat refitting apparatus. A cylindrical main body portion has a longitudinal bore which receives a centering guide. Longitudinal slots around the outer periphery of the main body portion receive cutting blades rigidly attached to cutting blade support. Radial and longitudinal positioning screws serve to position the supports and cutting blades to refit a variety of valve seats. Set screws lock the blade supports in the desired position. A bushing removably attached to the centering guide also allows the centering guide to be adapted to fit different size valve seats.

  • Patent number: 4781496
Abstract: The present invention includes a tool and method for resurfacing a housing facing. The tool is adapted for use with a rotatable shaft extending from a housing, e.g. an impeller shaft of a pump. The tool includes a body having first and second halves that are removably secured to the rotatable shaft. A plurality of cutters are receivable within slots selectively disposed along the radii of the body halves. Advancing and locking screws for each cutter are utilized to position a cutter for engagement with the housing facing. The shaft is rotated, causing the cutters to produce a cut of desired depth in the facing. The depth of the cut is increased by turning an advancing screw.

  • Patent number: 4295763
Abstract: A cutter for use in making plugs of wood or the like to be used in the insulation industry for plugging holes made in order to provide insulation in an existing structure. The cutter is adapted to be held in a chuck or the like for rotation about a central axis defined by a holder, with a pilot being spring biased in the holder and having a centering tit for locating the wooden plug as it is being cut. Four steel cutters are provided in circumaxially spaced relationship around the axis, and two of these are oriented at a slightly different angle than the other two such that the plug can be cut with two distinct tapers, such that the steeper plug taper permits the plug to be first located in the hole to be plugged, and a shallower slightly larger diameter tapered portion for securing the plug in the hole. Each cutter is adjustable in the holder, and is held in place by a screw with any number of shims being provided in order to cut plugs of different size.
