Removable Central Lead Patents (Class 408/201)
  • Patent number: 11781583
Abstract: A sleeve for the centering of fasteners when installing structural parts on substructure of a building envelope is designed substantially as a hollow cylindrical sleeve body or split hollow cylindrical sleeve body. It has at least two gutter-like shell elements each having a head end and a rear end. The shell elements are grouped symmetrically about a central axis A and span between them a middle space with inner surfaces facing each other. The shell elements are spaced apart from each other and separated by axially parallel longitudinal slots, except for a connecting joint section at the head end. These sleeves are placed on a fastener and allow a precise centering in the predrilled hole of a facade plate, for example. The sleeve remains in the predrilled hole until such time as the centering of the fastener has been accomplished and is then ejected safely by driving the fastener home.

  • Patent number: 6881017
Abstract: The hole saw guide adaptor is a special adaptor for a standard hole saw which allows an individual to enlarge an opening in a wood or other work surface after an opening has already been cut in the surface. This adaptor allows an individual to increase the diameter of an existing hole that was cut with a hole saw. The adaptor would generally have a cylindrical configuration with a flattened portion on one end that allows it to be inserted into the hole saw arbor and locked into place with the set screw. The other end of the adaptor would include a threaded area similar to that on the lower end of any standard hole saw arbor. Thus, the hole saw used to cut the initial hole can be threaded onto this end of the adaptor, with the cutting edge facing away from the opening, to be used as a guide for cutting the new hole. The hole saw with the larger diameter for the new hole would be mounted in a conventional manner in the hole saw arbor.

  • Patent number: 6033161
Abstract: The invention is a revolving pilot tool. The inventor's revolving pilot has a cylindrical shank which is attached to the tool usually in the center of the bottom of the tool. This shank has a threaded opening in its center. Over the shank is placed a cylindrical bearing. Over this bearing is placed another cylindrical piece that forms the outer surface of the pilot. To hold the bearing and the cylindrical piece upon the shank a screw and o-ring is usually used. This pilot is usually attached to the bottom of the tool to align the tool to an already drilled opening. However, it could be attached above a drill to align the tool to an opening being drilled. The pilot can also align the tool during line boring.

Abstract: This invention is a countersink, counterbore or spotface, external pilot guide 98 which aligns a countersink cutter's edges 170, 171 and 172 into the center of a pre-drilled hole 15. The pilot guide indexes and attaches by lock down screw 165 to the countersink cutter 18 external body hole 160, three pilot legs 100 are recessed into the countersink cutter 18's flute pockets 150 and allows the cutting edges 170, 171 and 172 to extend through the pilot countersink cut-outs 140. Button nose 110 outside diameter comes in a range of sizes dependent on the pre-drilled hole 15 size (example: Pre-drilled hole size 0.375", button nose size 0.372") this allows clearance for friction expansion. All button nose 110 outside diameter's fit the same countersink cutter 18 and all have a hole in the center which allows the flare tube shaft 14 to move freely during the countersinking operation.

Abstract: An annular bit (1) having an attachable center drill (6) is proposed, in which annular bit (1), on the one hand, reliable holding of the center drill (6) in the annular bit (1) is ensured and, in particular, distributions of the cutting segments (3) on the annular bit (1) differing from the 90.degree. symmetry are made possible. This is achieved according to the invention in that the center-drill holder (4) has at least one push-in pin (11) and the wall of the annular bit (1) has at least one recess (14, 15, 16) for accommodating the push-in pin (11), which pin and recess are formed in such a way that the push-in pin (11) is retained in the recess (14, 15, 16) in the axial direction relative to the annular-bit axis in the locked state of the center-drill holder (4).

  • Patent number: 5697935
Abstract: A device for removing embedded or broken fastening implements from bone, comprises a cylindrical drill bit with a cavity extending internally from a distal end of the bit. The distal end further defines a cutting surface disposed about the opening to the cavity. The interior surface of the cavity defines has a decreasing diameter as one proceeds away from the opening in the distal end, and thus the cutting surface is formed where the radial thickness of the wall of the drill bit is the thinnest. The interior surface of the cavity is susceptible to a galling effect when frictionally engaged by the exterior surface of the fastening implement intended to be removed. The operator places the drill bit around the site of the bone containing the fastening implement to be removed and rotates the bit so as to cut into the bone around the exterior surface of the fastening implement.
