Patent number: 8122978Abstract: The invention is a drilling device for providing a conically shaped cavity in materials primarily used for anchoring systems. The drilling device is comprised of a solid shank for attachment to a drill, a reverse thread section, and a cutting head. The cutting head includes a cutting tip, clean out flutes, extendable cutting blades mounted within an internal chamber of cutting head body, and means for extending the cutting blades. The extendable cutting blades project from the cutting head body radially when the reverse thread section is driven into the internal chamber of the cutting head. The reverse thread section interacts with the means for extending the cutting blades. This may include a pair of cams that are spring biased outwardly. The cams push against the backsides of the extendable cutting blades for driving them from the cutting head body when the drill device is counter rotated.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2009Date of Patent: February 28, 2012Inventor: John Clifford

Patent number: 7360975Abstract: A milling head for a rotary tool, which is preferably utilized to process, prepare, or otherwise impart a desired finish to a workpiece, preferably an end portion of a tube. In a preferred embodiment, the milling head includes at least three different cutting or milling surfaces each capable of performing a distinct operation on a workpiece. In one embodiment, the milling head includes a) a membrane milling and/or outer diameter tube film removal element; b) a beveling element capable of imparting a bevel to the tube end; and c) an inner diameter tube film removal element. In yet a further embodiment, outer diameter tube film removal elements or blades are provided having a curved or rounded cutting or milling edge which can be utilized especially in milling operations having close quarters. In a preferred embodiment, the milling head outer diameter cutting blades are provided with elongated, slotted bores.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2005Date of Patent: April 22, 2008Assignee: H&S Tool, Inc.Inventor: J. Patent number: 7273334Abstract: The first cutting edge can advantageously remove a large burr from the edge of a drilled hole with high effectiveness, because of the particularly aggressive cutting action of the first cutting edge. The following inclined second cutting edge advantageously allows precise chamfers to be cut, i.e., the surface and the angle of the counter bore can be precisely maintained, independent of the wear on the cutting edges. A control surface located adjacent to the cutting edge in the forward region enables a precise control of the cutter.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2005Date of Patent: September 25, 2007Assignee: Heule Werkzeug AGInventor: Heinrich Heule

Patent number: 7261498Abstract: A deburring tool having an indexable cutting insert having four cutting edges. The cutting insert has a main body portion and a guide groove. The cutting insert is slidably retained in an insert pocket with the main body portion of the insert located in a generally rectangular slot of the insert pocket and with the guide groove located and engaging a guide member portion of the insert pocket. The cutting insert is moveable between a retracted position and an extended position by means of a spring which biases the cutting insert towards the extended position. The sliding movement of the cutting insert is performed by the sliding of the guide member within the guide groove.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2005Date of Patent: August 28, 2007Assignee: Iscar Ltd.Inventors: Gil Hecht, Michael Abramson, Daniel Men

Patent number: 7244081Abstract: A drill adapter has a resilient insert retaining portion at one end, a drive stem at the second end, and an adapter seating portion between the two. The insert retaining portion includes first and second resilient clamping members which are rotationally 180° apart. The resilient clamping members are separated by a narrow slit which communicates with an internal through bore extending across a diameter of the insert retaining portion. The seating portion includes a pair of planar abutment surfaces which are supported by a lower seating surface formed on the drill adapter seating portion, when the drill is assembled. The drive stem is provided with a pair of longitudinally extending drive slots. When inserted into an end bore formed at the operative end portion of a drill shaft, the drive slots receive complementary guides formed on an inner wall of the end bore.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2004Date of Patent: July 17, 2007Assignee: Ingersoll Cutting Tool CompanyInventors: William Bennett Johnson, John Carlos Lundholm
