  • Patent number: 11519166
Abstract: An apparatus guides first and second assembly components into a predetermined configuration, each assembly component including an opening. When the assembly components are aligned into the predetermined configuration, their openings align to define a cavity for receiving a stepped dowel to fasten the components together. The guiding apparatus includes a stepped dowel member having successively-smaller dowel sections, and a collar member floating around the base of the stepped dowel member. • Patent number: 9808870
Abstract: A reverse spot-facing tool for cutting a reverse spot-face in a workpiece using a reverse spot-facing cutter configured to engage a pilot shaft having a first end and a second end is disclosed. The workpiece comprises a through hole having a central axis. The reverse spot-facing tool comprises a stop configured to be located between the first end and the second end of the pilot shaft; a biasing assembly that generates a first thrust force and an equal and opposite second thrust force when the reverse spot-facing cutter is cutting the reverse spot face; and a thrust bearing configured to be positioned between the biasing assembly and the stop. When the reverse spot-facing cutter is cutting the reverse spot-face, the thrust bearing transmits the second thrust force from the biasing assembly to the stop, and the biasing assembly transmits the first thrust force to the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 8840347
Abstract: A drill of the loose top type, which is composed of a basic body and a replaceable loose top. In the front end of the basic body, a jaw is formed, which is delimited by two elastically bendable branches and an intermediate axial support surface, and in which the loose top can be securely pinched by inner support surfaces of the branches being resiliently pressed against side contact surfaces of the loose top. The two side contact surfaces of the loose top extend rearward from clearance surfaces that are included in the front end of the loose top. By forming the diametrical dimension between opposite side contact surfaces greater nearer the front end of the loose top, the branches of the jaw securely pinch the loose top in the area of the front ends thereof, where the branches have their maximal bending capacity.

  • Patent number: 7134816
Abstract: A cutting tool for rotary cutting includes a rotatable basic body and a replaceable cutting part or loose top, which is connectable to the basic body via a male/female coupling, which includes a groove and a male part. The groove is formed in a front end of the basic body and is delimited by a bottom surface and two side surfaces. The male part is insertable into the groove along the axis of rotation and protrudes rearwardly from the loose top. The male part has an end surface and two flank surfaces. In the front part of the basic body a forwardly open slot is formed, which separates two elastically deflectable legs wich clamp the male part in the groove. In either the end surface or the bottom surface a recess is formed for receiving a projection on the other surface. The recess is larger than the projection in order to enable the male part to reciprocate a short distance in the groove, whereby the loose top is self-centering with respect to the axis of rotation.

  • Patent number: 7114892
Abstract: A rotatable tool for chip removing machining includes a drill shank, and an exchangeable loose top mounted at an axially front end of the shank. Between these there is a coupling, which includes a male part on the loose top, and a groove in the basic body. By means of a slot, two deflectable legs are defined by the shank, which legs form a jaw for receiving and clamping the male part. The maximal width of the jaw upon deflection of the legs away from one another is larger than the maximal breadth of a wedge portion included in the male part. Furthermore, the angles of inclination of flank surfaces on the male part and side surfaces in the groove, are equally large in order to guarantee surface contact between said surfaces, when the legs are resiliently tightened against the male part. The wedge portion is of dovetail shape, wherein the loose top is drawn axially against the shank as it is being radially clamped by the legs.
