Abstract: In a finishing apparatus, a plurality of works are retained at distances from each other in a direction of an X-axis. A single spindle is disposed on a table movable in the direction of the X-axis, the spindle has an axis parallel to an axis of each of bores to be finished, and is capable of being advanced and retracted axially. A measuring device is provided that measures an inside diameter of each finished bore and which is advanced and retracted independently from the spindle in a direction along the axis of each finished bore. A combination tool is mounted at a tip end of the spindle and finishes an inner surface of any of the bores to be finished, even if the position of insertion of the combination tool into each of the bores is changed.
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a metal wiring layer in a semiconductor device, wherein an insulating layer is plasma treated before a tungsten nitride film is formed on the insulating layer. A metal, metal silicide or metal alloy thereafter being deposited over the tungsten nitride film.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the multi-splindle machining apparatus which carries out machining of the discontinuous surfaces of a plurality of workpieces simultaneously, and in order to restrain the amplification of chattering, oscillation or the like so as to prevent the machining precision from deterioration, the diameters of plural drive pulleys 7a, 7b, 7c connected to a driving motor are finely varied to change at random the rotational speeds which are transmitted from the drive pulleys 7a, 7b, 7c through belts 10 to driven pulleys 8 provided on each machining spindle 3a, thus changing irregularly the timings at which cutting edges 9 of the machining spindles 3a pass the discontinuities such as joint portions s.
Abstract: Piston wrist pin boring tool including semi-finish and finish inserts mounted in individual cartridges adjustably secured in cartridge pockets provided in the boring bar. A carbide shank is brazed to a body provided with a cartridge pocket, and a diamond tip for the finishing insert is provided with a closely controlled flat neutral rake cutting edge supplied with coolant from central passages through the bar.
Abstract: The invention discloses a fixture for holding the connecting rod from an internal combustion engine for the purpose of precision reaming the bushing in the piston pin end of said connecting rod. The fixture is uniquely adaptable to various connecting rod lengths by simply rotating an eccentric member to an appropriate index position. Various crankshaft diameters can be accommodated by the use of appropriate adapter sleeves on the eccentric bushing. Different size piston pin diameters may be accommodated by simply inserting the proper reamer guide bushing and use of an appropriate diameter conical centering bushing. Additional holes also can be provided in an indexing plate member of the fixture to extend the range of connecting rod lengths that can be handled with the fixture. The fixture is also adapted to be made with a blank indexing plate member, which can be drilled by the user for various connecting rod lengths.
