Abstract: A guide that is used in conjunction with a plasma cutting torch includes a main circular ring having a small circular ring mounted on the outer periphery thereof. The small ring includes a bearing assembly and accommodates the plasma cutting torch. A guide bolt is mounted on the main circular ring and is attached to the workpiece and forms the center of a circular hole that will be cut with the plasma torch. Once the main ring is attached to the workpiece, the plasma torch is attached to the small ring. The torch and rings are then rotated about the bolt with the plasma torch activated to cut a hole that has a radius equal to the radius of the main circular ring plus the radius of the small ring.
Abstract: An automatic welding apparatus and an automatic milling apparatus for machining welding grooves in order to weld a three-dimensional surface such as a ball tank or the like are disclosed. A welding wire spool is accommodated within a case and a cover to prevent the welding wire from being oxidized and from being contaminated with foreign materials. The automatic milling apparatus is installed to form welding grooves on the both sides of the objects to be welded, in the case where a welding is performed on a three-dimensional curved surface. A guide roller having a handle is installed to control the machining depth of the grooves, and an idling type nylon guide roller is installed in closed contact with the shaft of a cutter, thereby adjusting the distance between the rail and the groove, and adjusting the deviations of the depth of the grooves, which are caused by the machining inaccuracies due to the deviations of the three-dimensional curvature.
Abstract: A cutting tool assembly and, more particularly, a novel holding device for cutting tools, especially such as flat beaded drill bits which are employed in the drilling of track rail. A tool holder possessing a generally solid cylindrical construction, having a first cylindrical shank portion is adapted to be fixedly installed in the rotary drive unit of a rail drill, and wherein the tool holder includes a second cylindrical shank portion coaxial with the first shank portion having a tool-mounting projection end. A clamping member extends transversely across a longitudinal slot formed in the second shank portion whereby actuation of the clamping member, such as a screw or the like, will selectively widen or narrow the slot. The shank end of a flat beaded track drill is inserted into the slot, with raised longitudinal beads on the opposite surfaces of the drill bit engaging into complementary longitudinal grooves formed in the facing surfaces of slot in the tool holder.
Abstract: A stabilizing attachment for a boring head is provided. The attachment includes a clamp for engaging a rotatable head plate of the boring head, a pair of support arms extending axially of the annular clamping ring, and a transverse plate carried by the support arms at their outer ends. The transverse plate supports a shaft on which is mounted an anti-friction bearing, the outer race of which engages an opening in the wall of a pressure vessel. A bit carried by the head plate of the boring head moves in an annular path to cut a gasket seat about the opening. A method of cutting an annular groove in a wall, utilizing a stabilizing attachment for a boring head which engages in an opening in the wall.
Abstract: A mechanical tool manipulating method and apparatus including apparatus and process for splitting axes of drive, wherein the drive means include preloaded lead screw nuts for minimal backlash, and "v" wheels and cylindrical slides for lineal tracking, as well as apparatus and process for precision clamping of the workpiece, and for recirculating exhaust air for clearing debris.

Abstract: Apparatus is provided for carrying, positioning and operating relatively unwieldy machine tools, such as heavy multiple-head drilling assemblies, upon massive flanged work-pieces, such as structural members for bridges, in order to more efficiently perform required operations upon the work-pieces, such as the pre-drilling of girders and their associated splice plates in a fabrication yard prior to field erection of the structure into which they will be assembled.
Abstract: A holding device for a manually portable drilling machine includes a detachable tension element which is attached at two mutually opposite points to a carrier member for the portable drilling machine, the tension element being sufficiently long to encircle at least the horizontal circumference of the object to be drilled at the vertical level of the hole to be drilled. In addition the device includes a resilient bracing means provided between the portable drilling machine and the tension element when the drilling machine is located at a drilling site and the tension element is secured to the carrier so as to be in tension around the object to be drilled.
