  • Patent number: 11747633
Abstract: An optical element can be adjusted using a displacement element in an actuator assembly. The actuator assembly includes a plurality of lead screws and a mechanical linkage configured to simultaneously rotate the lead screws. The actuator assembly further includes a displacement element configured to act upon the optical element, through translational motion of the displacement element in response to rotation of the lead screws. Multiple optical elements can be adjusted simultaneously using respective displacement elements. In some embodiments, a controller determines a target position for at least one displacement element, where the target position is configured to provide a desired optical characteristic such as an optical power. The controller can apply power to the actuator to move the at least one displacement element. The controller can also shut off power upon detecting that the at least one displacement element has reached the target position or an end-of-travel position.

  • Patent number: 8899887
Abstract: A printed circuit board (PCB) drilling apparatus that greatly increases the speed, accuracy and depth of the drilling process as well as increasing the life of the drill bits by decoupling the reactionary forces encountered in the positioning and drilling functions of the apparatus in the x, y and z axes from the components that accomplish the positioning, measuring and drilling of the stacked printed circuit boards. The part of the apparatus that moves and drills as well as the feedback position sensors are mounted to a set of vibration isolation pads that absorb the vibrations that would disturb the feedback sensors. Additionally, the force frame of the apparatus that experiences the reactionary force movements are decoupled from the metrology frame of the apparatus that house the feedback sensors, also increasing the throughput and accuracy.

Abstract: The invention provides a machining apparatus, and its machining method, having machining tables whose weight do not increase so much even if a number of machining sections such as spindles is increased. One of the machining tables is a rectangular stationary table having a groove in the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction on its surface and the other is a rectangular movable table engaged with the groove. The machining apparatus machines a printed circuit board, whose area is larger than that of the movable table, on a mounting surface of the stationary table by changing position of the printed circuit board by moving the movable table and by determining machining position by moving a spindle at position facing the mounting surface of the stationary table.

Abstract: The invention relates to a boring machine, particularly for woodworking, for boring rows of holes and structural bores in plateshaped workpieces such as cabinet sidewalls, cabinet doors, etc. with a machine frame having a workpiece holder and a boring assembly displaceable on guide rails, in which machine the workpiece holder. a workpiece stop and a stop arrangement with position fingers adjustable and lockable in the displacement direction of the boring assembly, which, in connection with the boring assembly, determine the boring position along the displacement path of the boring assembly.Presetting of boring patterns with a number of bore rows is carried out by means of position rollers having a number of holding rails in which fingers can be prepositioned. The fingers cooperate with finger receivers to determine the positions of the boring assembly.

  • Patent number: 4850763
Abstract: A semi-automatic track drill for use in drilling fastener holes for an aircraft body includes a pair of generally spaced, parallel rails. A plurality of slider bars extend between the rails and are connected thereto in a manner so that each bar can be slid along the length of the rails. Positioned between at least two of the bars is a drill carriage which is also slidably connected to the rails. A template having a series of alternating lands and grooves registers the carriage at preselected drilling positions. The drill assembly, including the template, is secured to the aircraft body by temporary clamping bolts which are positioned in a line along the body's surface.

  • Patent number: 4848327
Abstract: A method for placing screws in an orthopedic nail used in setting fractures of the long bones of the body. A fluoroscope assembly is used initially to develop an image on a monitor. This image enables the physician to adjust the fluoroscope assembly until the x-rays from the fluoroscope are propagated along lines which are coaxially aligned with the nail screw holes. This status of alignment is then used to allow reference marks to be made on the skin located on one or more lines projected through the limb containing the fractured bone in coaxial alignment with the nail screw holes. The limb is then incised at the location of one or more of these alignment marks allowing tubular drill guides of a jig to be set against the bone in a position of coaxial alignment with the screws holes through the nail.

  • Patent number: 4786216
Abstract: A printed circuit board is supported at its peripheral portion and is moved and positioned by a drive mechanism. During the drilling of a hole in the circuit board, the thrust of the drill acting upon the circuit board is born by a sliding contact surface on a stand disposed on the side of the board opposite the drill. Ultrasonic vibration is applied to the printed circuit board via the stand during the drilling operation to prevent the occurrence of expoxy smearing.

  • Patent number: 4765785
Abstract: A machine for drilling holes in the deck of a flat bed or other type trailer. The machine has a cross beam and rails for a wheeled carriage supporting a drill press for drilling holes in the deck in an X-direction across the deck. The cross beam and rails are carried upon wheeled trucks which are moveable longitudinally along the length of the deck in a Y-direction. The counteract thrust and to anchor the machine, adjustable clamps are provided at opposite ends of the cross beam which bear against the underside or other suitable fastening point of the trailer. The cross beam ties the machine together in providing support for the wheeled carriage, the rails, wheeled trucks and the clamps to provide a rugged and easily maneuverable machine for moving a drill press in any desired X-Y direction.
