With Plural Sequentially Acting Cutters Or With Double Acting Cutter Patents (Class 409/319)
  • Patent number: 7811035
Abstract: An apparatus is described for deburring with planing tools a metal strand cut to length by gas cutting, which planing tools are adjustably held each for themselves transversally to the metal strand in a support, and with a drive for the relative advancing movement of the planing tools relative to the metal strand which is cut to length. The annular support includes at least two sets of planing tools which are radially adjustable to the metal strand cut to length, which sets are arranged behind one another in the longitudinal direction of the metal strand cut to length and which are staggered against each other set by set.

  • Publication number: 20080118323
Abstract: In the machine tool according to the present invention, a cutting tool 25 is configured to be optionally turned to take each reverse orientation, based on a C axis as the center of rotation about the Z axis, which is vertical to the X-Y plane parallel to a top face of a work 13. First, the orientation of the cutting tool 25 is set to correspond to machining in an advancing stroke for the work 13, so as to perform the machining for the work while moving it in an advancing direction. Then, the orientation of the cutting tool is reversed, so as to perform the machining for the work while moving it in a retracting direction.

  • Patent number: 4693813
Abstract: A broaching method for finishing an outer peripheral surface of a resin layer of a resin-coated lobe-type rotor for a rotary fluid machine of a Roots type, which includes the steps of forming, with a leading grooving cutter, at least one chip-breaker groove in the outer peripheral surface of the resin layer, such that the chip-breaker groove extends in a broaching direction parallel to an axis of rotation of the rotor. The method further includes the steps of finishing at least a portion of the outer peripheral surface of the resin layer with a trailing finish cutter having a cutting edge contour corresponding to the portion of the outer peripheral surface of the resin layer, which is finished by the finish cutter after the chip-breaker groove is formed therein by the grooving cutter. A composite broach or formed broach having the grooving and finish cutters is fed such that the grooving cutter leads the finish cutter in the broaching direction.

  • Patent number: 4522540
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for removing a cutting burr produced when longitudinally fusion-cutting a slab and sticking to the lower surface of the slab along the fusion-cutting line, which comprise placing a slab having the cutting burr on a roller table comprising a plurality of rollers and horizontally extending with the lower surface having the cutting burr of the slab down so that the line of the cutting burr agrees with the travelling direction of the roller table; lifting a cutter of a burr cutting machine provided below the roller table to bring the cutter into contact with the lower surface having the cutting burr of the slab; horizontally moving the cutter toward the line of the cutting burr of the slab until the cutter passes the line of the cutting burr while keeping the contact with the lower surface of the slab, to cut off a part of the cutting burr by a length corresponding to the total length of a knife of the cutter by means of the knife of the cutter, and, horizontally pulling the cutter back

  • Patent number: 4461604
Abstract: A mobile rail head planing machine comprises a pair of tool carriers vertically adjustably mounted on a machine frame, respective ones of the carriers being associated with a respective track rail. Each tool carrier carries a metal shearing tool engaging with the lateral outside face of the rail head of the respective rail and guide rollers respectively engaging the running faces and lateral outside faces of the rail heads guide each tool carrier along the respective rail. Power-actuated jacks press the guide rollers against the rail head faces they engage for guiding each tool carrier clearance-free along the rails.

  • Patent number: 4362448
Abstract: When a continuous cast slab is cut, such as by gas cutting, burrs tend to be caused at the cut edges. These burrs are removed by a plurality of edged cutting tools which are installed serially along the width of the slab to be treated. Each of the edged cutting tools may be selectively raised or tilted in the vertical direction or moved in the horizontal direction to substantially follow the warped or otherwise uneven surface on which the burrs are located. In this manner, substantially all of the burrs are exactly and completely removed.
