Patent number: 9719550Abstract: A fastener assembly includes a fastener, a washer, and a ratchet plate. The washer includes a washer base, and at least one pawl extending from the washer base. The ratchet plate includes a ratchet base and a ratcheted outer profile extending in a circumferential direction around a circumferential periphery of the ratchet base. The ratchet plate is carried by a head of the fastener, and the ratcheted outer profile cooperates with the pawl of the washer.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2015Date of Patent: August 1, 2017Inventors: Robert E. Patent number: 7695224Abstract: Methods of producing a pipe include curling a skelp into a cylindrical shape by bringing laterally opposed edges of the skelp together to form a seam, butt welding the seam to define the pipe downstream of the skelp, thereby leaving a radially inwardly extending weld bead. The weld bead is deburred off the pipe according to a depth of cut of a cutting tool. The depth of cut may be adjusted during deburring, and/or rotation of the cutting tool may be adjusted during deburring. The methods may be carried out using one or both of an adjustment device carried by a housing to pivot an adjustment member for adjustment of an upstream guide to adjust a depth of cut of the cutting tool into the weld bead, or an adjustment device carried by the housing and coupled to the cutting tool to rotate the cutting tool during deburring.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2008Date of Patent: April 13, 2010Assignee: Lumco Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Patrick J. Publication number: 20080118323Abstract: In the machine tool according to the present invention, a cutting tool 25 is configured to be optionally turned to take each reverse orientation, based on a C axis as the center of rotation about the Z axis, which is vertical to the X-Y plane parallel to a top face of a work 13. First, the orientation of the cutting tool 25 is set to correspond to machining in an advancing stroke for the work 13, so as to perform the machining for the work while moving it in an advancing direction. Then, the orientation of the cutting tool is reversed, so as to perform the machining for the work while moving it in a retracting direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 16, 2007Publication date: May 22, 2008Applicant: TOSHIBA KIKAI KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventor: Shozo Suzuki

Patent number: 6942438Abstract: An apparatus and method for forming a keyway in a workpiece is provided. The apparatus includes a shank and cutter, the shank and cutter immovably associated with respect to each other during the keyway forming operation. The apparatus is engageable with a computer numeric controlled machine. The method of forming a keyway in a workpiece includes a reciprocating, chiseling motion for removing layers of material from the workpiece.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2001Date of Patent: September 13, 2005Inventor: Scott L. Publication number: 20020061237Abstract: In a burr removing method and apparatus of the present invention, a burr located at an edge of a steel piece is cut with a cutter by disposing the cutter such that the flank of the cutter is substantially in parallel with the surface of the steel piece on which the burr exists and the angle between the cutting edge of the cutter and the edge of the steel piece which the burr intersects is at least 45° and relatively moving the cutter toward the outside of the steel piece along the lengthwise direction of the burr; or by disposing the cutter such that the flank of the cutter is substantially in parallel with the surface of the steel piece on which the burr exists and the angle between the cutting edge of the cutter and the edge of the steel piece which the burr intersects is at least 90° and cutting the burr located at the edge of the steel piece by relatively moving the cutter perpendicularly to the lengthwise direction of the burr.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 3, 2001Publication date: May 23, 2002Applicant: NKK Corporation, a corporation of JAPANInventors: Koji Yamashita, Hiromasa Hayashi, Susumu Okawa, Koji Okushima

Patent number: 6375397Abstract: A deburrer machine for cutting burrs (2), which consists out of a rotating deburring body (3) and travelling carriage (6) is foreseen for application especially on longitudinally cut slabs in flow. For deburring the deburring pistons (4) perform a rotary movement around the deburring body axis (21), whereby they approach to the cutting burr (2) from the workpiece side. Therefore the rotation axis is arranged in a way that the deburring pistons (4) turn below the lower workpiece surface outside the workpiece (1) after having finished the deburring procedure in order to lift again against this lower surface. Inside the deburring body (3) is placed a pressure chamber (18) which effects the lifting of the deburring pistons (4). Thereby the air contained in the lower piston guidance (12) is displaced and then the throttled air is led-off via bores in the lower part of the deburring piston (4) in order to dampen the piston movement.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 1999Date of Patent: April 23, 2002Assignee: Gega CorporationInventor: Horst K.
