With Nonthread Or Nonhelix Generating, Milling Cutter Patents (Class 409/71)
  • Patent number: 5244320
Abstract: A wood tapping machine includes a cutting device formed on a machine body which has a tapping rod extending horizontally from the cutting device. A guiding path is formed on the machine body and has a toolrest which is disposed slidably thereon. The toolrest includes a base member and a cylindrical casing that has two arms extending therefrom and connected pivotally to the base member. A driving rod connects the base member and the cylindrical casing and maintains the cylindrical casing parallel to the tapping rod of the cutting device. The cylindrical casing can swing relative to the base member when the driving rod rotates about its axis. A main shaft is threadedly and rotatably disposed through the cylindrical casing. The main shaft has a chuck assembly at one end and a rotation wheel at another end thereof.

  • Patent number: 5188491
Abstract: Feed screws are used for container filling machines in order to separate a series of approaching containers at a specific distance from each other. Feed screws for non-rotationally symmetrically shaped containers are milled with a milling tool rotating at a high rpm, the shaft of which is arranged parallel to the longitudinal axis of the feed screw that rotates at a lower rpm. To avoid feed screw flank errors, the rotating milling tool is moved up and down in an oscillating manner, so that a milling tool can be used, the contours of which agree exactly with the associated cross sectional area of the containers which are to be handled. The first shaft of the milling tool is attached to a sliding carriage, which is movably guided in an upward and downward direction by means of a crank mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5143492
Abstract: A description is given of equipment for the production of screw-threaded drilled holes (tapped holes) of variable diameters in solid materials in a single-pass operation with the use of an integrated cutting tool and with the use of a commercially-available hand-drilling machine having an electronically-controlled motor drive, or any other type of drive, where the equipment includes a tool spindle which may be attached to the drive shaft of a hand-drilling machine or the like, and which is radially displaceable in relation to its axis and accommodated in a cylindrical housing for the spindle, where the position of said spindle housing may be adjusted axially in a specified manner by means of a screw device in a holder which may be mounted on the tool and has arrangements, on the one hand, for limitation of the axial travel of the tool and, on the other hand, for adjustment of the desire diameter of the tapped hole which is to be produced.

  • Patent number: 5104268
Abstract: For machining male or female screws, especially of considerably large size diameter, variable pitch or tapered, as desired, a machining center is used which is composed of a work table mounting the work fixedly thereon, and a rotatable machining spindle exchangeably fitted with a thread-cutting tool. Axial feed and rotational speed of the spindle are driven by respective drive motors. In addition, the work table is fed bilaterally on a plane perpendicular to the axis of the spindle by respective feed motors. All these four motors are controlled synchronously by respective controllers which are subjected to control by a single parent numerical controller.

  • Patent number: 4934040
Abstract: A spindle driver for a machine tool is disclosed which is adapted to move the spindle and a tool driven thereby in a helical path with variable pitch and with an orbital radius which may be varied. A quill is mounted on a support member and driven by a variable pitch drive mechanism in the form of a differential lead screw to provide a selectable ratio of axial motion to rotative motion of the quill. A spindle carrier is rotatably mounted on the quill for rotation about an eccentric axis offset from the quill axis. A spindle motor and a spindle driven thereby is mounted on a carrier with the spindle axis offset from the eccentric rotation axis. The orbital radius for the spindle is adjustable by rotation of the spindle carrier about the eccentric rotation axis to adjust the offset of the spindle axis.

  • Patent number: 4750849
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cutting a pair of circular grooves in the side edges of the periphery of a circular disk such, for example, as the stator of an alternator. A milling cutter having axially spaced cutting elements along its periphery is positioned so that its axis is parallel to the axis of the disk. The cutter is moved toward the disk while being axially rotated, to cause the cutting elements to cut into the side edges of the periphery of the disk. The disk is then rotated one full turn to cause the cutting elements to cut the grooves.
