Patent number: 4756651Abstract: A cargo restraining device for a palletized load including a platform with a pallet crosstie reception slot for receiving a pallet with a load of cargo thereon, and a vertical frame at one end of the platform. A handle is pivotally secured to the frame and connected to a horizontally extending member which is movable to place it in frictional contact with a floor or supporting surface. To lock the pallet and platform to the floor, the handle is pushed downwardly while at the same time pushing the vertical frame toward the load. Movement of the handle which pivots about a hinge pivotally connected to the frame, moves the horizontally-extending member into contact with the supporting surface and at the same time lifts and tilts the platform, which adds an augmented downward force on the horizontally-extending member in contact with the supporting surface.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1987Date of Patent: July 12, 1988Assignee: NP Marketing CorporationInventors: James J. Patent number: 4515506Abstract: A cargo restraining device for a palletized load including a platform for receiving a pallet with a load of cargo thereon, and a vertical frame at one end of the platform. A handle is pivotally secured to the frame and connected to a horizontally-extending member which is movable to place it in frictional contact with a floor or supporting surface. When the pallet is placed on the platform, it can be locked in place by a serrated member which engages a cross-tie of the pallet. To lock the pallet and platform to the floor, the handle is pushed downwardly while at the same time pushing the frame toward the load. Movement of the handle, which pivots about a hinge pivotally connected to the frame, moves the horizontally-extending member into contact with the supporting surface and at the same time lifts and tilts the platform, which adds an augmented downward force on the horizontally-extending member in contact with the supporting surface.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1982Date of Patent: May 7, 1985Assignee: N P Marketing CorporationInventors: James Van Gompel, Ronald R. Patent number: 4349302Abstract: The device is a cargo restraint mechanism for restraining cargo pallets. The mechanism includes two links rotatably attached to a frame member, and a latch member pivotably attached to the links. One link is provided with a lever and the latch includes a cargo restraint lip. The mechanism is erected by pressing the lever thereby raising the restraint lip above the plane of the top surface of the frame and into a cargo pallet engaging position. A downward force delivered to the top surface of the restraint lip retracts the restraint mechanism beneath the plane of the top surface of the frame. A helper leaf spring follows a cam surface on the other link causing a snap-type action in the mechanism. The frame may include an additional mechanism such as a separately actuatable and retractable seat pallet guide.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1980Date of Patent: September 14, 1982Assignee: Lockheed CorporationInventor: Jesse T. Patent number: 4322192Abstract: Warehouses, moving vans, buses, railroad cars, and cargo planes, adapted for storage or transport of cargo generally have tie-down studs or anchor bolts in their floors and walls. In order that cargo may slide across the floors or walls without interference the tie-down studs are mounted in recesses so that they do not extend beyond the floor or wall surface. These recessed studs have the disadvantage that objects to be attached thereto must be adapted to fit them. This invention provides an anchoring assembly which effectively converts the recessed anchor stud to an upwardly extending anchor bolt.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1979Date of Patent: March 30, 1982Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the ArmyInventors: Michael J.
