  • Patent number: 7896597
Abstract: A fastener for fastening a heat sink to a printed circuit board via a back plate comprises a head and a shaft extending from the head. The shaft comprises a first and second engaging portions and a connecting portion therebetween. The first and second engaging portions have outer threads on exteriors thereof. Two cutouts are defined in the connecting portion. The back plate defines four thread holes machined with inner threads for engaging with the outer threads. In use of the fastener, an elastic force is produced to the fastener due to a deformation of the two cutouts during the threading. The elastic force helps the outer threads to have a secure engagement with the inner threads whereby the fastener can firmly engage with the back plate even when the fastener is subject to vibration or shock.

Abstract: A memory system for a computational circuit having a pipeline includes at least one functional unit and an address generator that generates a memory address. A coherent cache memory is responsive to the address generator and is addressed by the memory address. The cache memory is capable of generating a cache memory output. A non-coherent directory-less associative memory is responsive to the address generator and is addressable by the memory address. The associative memory receives input data from the cache memory. The associative memory is capable of generating an associative memory output that is delivered to the functional unit. Abstract: The joining element comprising a fastener or screw shank having a head has adjacent to said head a portion with a plurality of parallel, concentric fit-stretch rings, whose external diameter is 0.1 to 0.5 mm larger than the external diameter of the fastening thread. A fit slot is formed between in each case two rings, with a notch groove radius which is two to three times the top radius of the fastening thread. In the transition region between the head and the aforementioned portion is provided a fillet with a rounded portion having a diameter corresponding roughly to the pitch diameter of the rings and with a radius of curvature amounting to approximately to 0.1 to 0.15 times the external diameter. The rings have a stressing cross-section in the notch groove corresponding to the stressing cross-section of the fastening thread. The top width of the rings approximately corresponds to the side width of the preliminary shape of the rings.

  • Patent number: 4273175
Abstract: An improved thread convolution cooperates with a mating thread convolution to prevent reverse rotation between the thread convolutions in a direction tending to loosen a fastener. In order to prevent reverse rotation between the two thread convolutions while enabling them to be rotated in a forward direction to tighten the fastener, the improved thread convolution has a resiliently deflectable spring portion which forms part of a flank of the thread convolution. During relative rotation between the two thread convolutions in a direction tending to tighten the fastener, the spring portion is deflected from an extended position to a retracted position under the influence of a flank of the mating thread convolution. This enables relative rotation to occur between the two thread convolutions without gouging or excessive scratching of the flank of either of the two thread convolutions.
