A shearing element is provided for temporarily fixing the nut in a first operating position. At a predetermined torque, the shearing element fails and the nut is freed to advance on the threaded member portion from the first temporary operating position to a second permanent operating position. The first fixed operating position is located at the top end of the member-threaded portion. The second operation position is located at the bottom end of the member-threaded portion so that the bearing plate is in abutting contact with the face of the rock formation. In its first operating position the nut and reinforcing member may be rotated together for mixing the adhesion materials located within the drill hole.

    Abstract: Embodiments of a log bunk shear-pin system are shown and described, each embodiment including a shear-pin that engages a log bunk and prevents the bunk from swiveling when the truck is being loaded or unloaded, but that releases the bunk when the shear-pin is mistakenly left engaged during travel. The shear-pin shears, or otherwise comes apart, when the power of the log load or the turning tractor forces the bunk to swivel relative to the tractor or trailer. The preferred shear-pin comprises a shoulder pin and a pin cap connected with a threaded insert. When the forces of a swiveling bunk push on the pin cap and the shoulder pin sideways in opposite directions, the insert breaks. A new insert may then be easily installed into the undamaged pin cap and shoulder pin. Thus, the shear-pin prevents damage to the bunk-ears and only allows damage of an inexpensive and replaceable portion of the shear-pin.

The proximal ends of the fingers engage the interior surface of the sleeve near the distal end of the sleeve. The sleeve is constrained from axial movement on the stud, and the stud is rotatable independently of the cam element and the sleeve. The proximal end of the sleeve has a nut adapted for the application of a torque thereto.

The mechanical anchor is inserted in a bore hole drilled in a rock formation with one or more resin cartridges advanced by upward movement of the bolt to the end of the bore hole. The cartridge is ruptured by upward thrust and rotation of the bolt to release the resin components for mixing. A stop device extending through the plug abuts the end of the bolt to prevent axial movement of the plug on the bolt when the bolt is rotated in a preselected direction to mix the resin components before the shell is expanded. Rotation of the bolt continues without expansion of the shell for a period of time to permit formation of a curable resin mixture.
