Wedge Received In Transverse Slot In Holding Device Or Anchor Patents (Class 411/76)
  • Patent number: 10982509
Abstract: A safety plug for use in rock drilling operations. The safety plug includes a base part and one or more expander elements. The base part has a leading end and a trailing end and a generally cylindrical outer surface between the leading and trailing ends, on which one or more external spirals are formed. The external spirals are provided to engage the internal wall of a bore within which the safety plug is inserted to anchor the base part within the bore. The one or more expander elements have an inactive non-expanded condition and an active, laterally expanded condition. The safety plug is operable to absorb load applied to its leading end in two stages, whereby: in a first stage, load applied to the leading end of the one or more expander elements up to a predetermined load is transferred to the base part and the base part is operable to react the load by engagement of the spirals with the internal wall of the bore.

  • Patent number: 8382410
Abstract: An anchor bolt assembly having a generally cylindrical grip end spaced from an actuating end. The grip end has two relatively movable mating portions each having at least one complementary ramp surface. The actuating end is used to move a movable mating portion relative to a fixed mating portion in a longitudinal direction. Actuation will cause the movable mating portion to slide relative to the static mating portion and apply radial pressure at the grip end of the anchor bolt assembly remote from the actuating end. The grip end has a roughened surface on the static mating portion while the movable mating portion is smooth. The anchor bolt assembly is particularly suitable for use in tapered holes formed in concrete.

  • Patent number: 7455471
Abstract: Fastening systems for parts that endure high vibration shear loads have traditionally been difficult or expensive to produce. This application describes a fastening system with multiple conical surfaces and eccentric offsets. The novel conical fastener system allows parts to be assembled with reduced tolerance controls at interface features while improving alignment precision. The eccentric conical fastening system is particularly well suited for assemblies with high shear loads in high vibration/shock environments, and/or for systems that have extremely precise pointing requirements.

  • Patent number: 7065855
Abstract: The invention provides an installation tool for use with a battery operated drill or a corded electric drill for repetitive installation of caulk-in anchors. The installation tool utilizes the mechanical advantage of a threaded shaft to improve consistency of the holding reliability of the caulk-in anchor and controls the anchor setting process to insure proper installation while reducing installation time. The installation tool does not rely on bottom setting or a hammer strike to set the anchor, but can be set at a depth independent of hole depth. In one embodiment, the tool can be used with a through hole in the substrate and uses a combination of a threaded shaft and a controlled sensing spring to insure a more uniform installation of the anchor within the substrate across the entire length of the sleeve portion of the anchor, along with a visual check of proper setting of the anchor.

  • Patent number: 4527822
Abstract: A latch mechanism for retaining a sunroof closure panel in a vehicle body roof opening includes a pin projecting from the closure panel and received within a bore of a receptacle mounted on the vehicle body. The pin is bifurcated by a central slot defining a pair of legs. A latch lever is pivoted within a transverse bore in the receptacle and carries a cam member which is received within the slot of the pin and straddled by the legs when the closure panel is lowered into its closed position. Rotation of the latch lever and the cam member forcibly spreads the pin legs into engagement with the bore of the receptacle to latch the sunroof closure panel in the closed position. The pin slot and the cam member may have mating tapers by which an adjustment of the transverse position of the cam member will adjust the extent of forcible spread of the legs to adjust for wear and for manufacturing or assembly variations.

  • Patent number: 4464076
Abstract: An expansion dowel assembly is formed of an axially extending dowel body and an expansion member. The dowel body has a support surface inclined relative to the axis of the dowel body along which the expansion member can be displaced for anchoring the dowel assembly in an opening such as a borehole. At least a portion of the support surface is in the form of a groove extending in the axial direction of the dowel body and the bottom of the groove is inclined so that the expansion member is forced radially outwardly away from the axis of the dowel body as it is displaced through the groove.
