Antisplitting Fastener Patents (Class 411/912)
  • Patent number: 6241445
Abstract: A corrugated fastener having an asymmetrically corrugated body member with more corrugations protruding from one face of the body member than from an opposite face thereof, and a leading edge on one end of the body member, the leading edge formed by at least one beveled surface and skewed toward the face of the body member having more corrugations protruding therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5758812
Abstract: Laminar staple for staple driving machines having a loader which includes a guide channel with a cross section that is complementary to the shape of the staple. The staple includes two walls substantially perpendicular to each other and defines a corner and two ribs extending substantially perpendicularly to the walls. The walls and the ribs of the staple have a cutting edge and at least one of the ribs is provided at the end opposite to the cutting edge with a chamfer cooperating with a respective relief formed in the channel of the loader.

  • Patent number: 5551819
Abstract: A metal end plate for a wood product including a plurality of elongated teeth protruding substantially transversely from the intermediate portion of the plate and a plurality of elongated teeth protruding substantially transversely from at least two opposed edges of the plate. These edge teeth are located such that, when the teeth are pressed into the end of a wood product, they engage the wood fibers near the outer perimeter of the end of wood product to provide restraining force at the perimeter of the end of the wood product to prevent large splits or cracks from forming or reappearing. In a preferred embodiment, the edge teeth engage the wood fibers within about 1/2 inch of the edge of the end of the wood product. Also, in a preferred embodiment the length of the edge teeth is on the order of 17/32 inch for average density wood and longer for wood of low density.

  • Patent number: 5336038
Abstract: Laminar staple including two walls which are substantially at right angles to each other and which form an edge and two ribs which extend substantially at right angles to the walls; the walls and the ribs form a cutting edge, and the ribs have two planar portions substantially parallel to the edge which progressively diverge proximate to the cutting edge into circular arc portions.

  • Patent number: 5149236
Abstract: A device is disclosed for assembling frames and moulding frames, comprising a monolithic assembly piece (31) forming a double tenon and having the form of two identical circular truncated cones of a height substantially equal to the thickness of the workpieces (32, 33) to be assembled. Said assembly piece is fitted into blind bores (34, 35) of corresponding shape having on the edge junction surfaces of the workpieces to be assembled. It is intended to assembling, with or without bonding, joinery pieces of wood or other materials, such as mitered moulding frames. The mitering machine for implementing the assembly device (31) comprises a sealed casing (1) equipped with two circular saw blades (4, 5) perpendicular to each other and driven with a single electric motor. The casing is mobile vertically with respect to a working surface (3) equipped with fixing means (15, 16) for the workpiece to be cut.

  • Patent number: 4709494
Abstract: A right angle clamp assembly holds two frame elements in a common plane and in angled abutment to form a mitered joint. Pneumatic cylinders are arranged to move the movable clamps of the right angle clamp assembly. A fastener tool has its discharge opening positioned on one side of the location where the mitered joint is to be formed, and a brace is positioned on the other side, with the brace being movable toward and away from the location of the mitered joint. The fastener tool is tiltable with respect to the right angle clamp assembly, and control means are provided for firing the fastener tool in response to the frame elements being gripped by the right angle clamp assembly. The fastener is inserted into the mitered joint at an angle formed by the frame elements to draw the mitered joint together.
