  • Patent number: 11713844
Abstract: Adjustment of a posture of a ball joint is facilitated. A support device includes a pan head unit, a ball joint having a first end to which the pan head unit is attached and a second end provided with a ball portion, a ball holder configured to selectively fix the ball portion, a ball fixing screw connected to the ball holder and configured to move the ball holder between a locked position at which the ball portion is fixed and an unlocked position at which the ball portion is freely rotatable, and an elastic member configured to urge the ball holder toward the ball portion. The ball holder and the ball fixing screw are connected to each other so as to be strokable with a predetermined stroke amount. The predetermined stroke amount is smaller than a movement amount of the ball fixing screw between a first position corresponding to the locked position and a second position corresponding to the unlocked position.

  • Patent number: 8426753
Abstract: A gravimetric measuring instrument that contains a weighing cell having a load-transmitting member. A load receiver can be coupled to the load-transmitting member through a releasable connection. A mechanical stop resides on the load-transmitting member, and a mechanical counter stop resides on the load receiver. By means of an eccentric bolt engaging the load receiver and the load-transmitting member, the mechanical stop can be pressed against the mechanical counter stop, whereby the stop can be clamped tight against the counter stop. With this arrangement, the load receiver can be rigidly but releasably secured to the load-transmitting member.

  • Patent number: 7422404
Abstract: A facilitated tightening device allowing a bolt to be inserted smoothly by preventing a screw block engaged with the bolt from being inclined or falling down, comprising a base (2) having a bolt-insertion hole (7) partly forming a bolt-receiving face (9) and a slope portion (8) gradually decreasing in radius toward the insertion side of the bolt (6) in a manner so as to match the bolt-insertion hole (7) formed therein, a running screw (3) slid along the slope portion (8) as a result of the axial movement of the inserted bolt (6) to be engaged with the bolt (6), a spring piece (5) that presses the running screw (3) in the downward, in the diameter-reducing direction of the running screw (3), and guide projections (10, 11) that engage with the running screw (3) so as to prevent the screw block (3) from falling down into the base (2). Also, a groove for the running screw 2b is formed in the base 2 so as to prevent said running screw 3 from wobbling in the circumferential direction.

  • Patent number: 6698985
Abstract: A bolt with a partially threaded shank has a plurality of locking grooves located on the shank between the thread and its head. The bolt is inserted through a component stack and spacing washers and a stepped reaction washer such that at least half of the locking grooves are left exposed. A deformable frusto-conical locking ring is positioned on a nut having a circular receiving cavity on one end. The nut and locking ring are positioned on the thread of the bolt and tightened so that the locking ring is deformed from a frusto-conical shape to a substantially flat disc such that its bore diameter is reduced, thereby retaining it within one of the locking grooves. The outer diameter of the receiving cavity abuts the stepped reaction washer.

  • Patent number: 6244806
Abstract: A locking apparatus includes an inner ring having a tapered outer shape and permitting a bolt of a fastener, with which construction elements are fastened, to pass therethrough, an outer plate formed with a tapered bore which receives the inner ring, a coil spring which urges the inner ring toward the outer plate, and a nut threadedly engaged with the bolt on the side close to an outer end of the coil spring. When an external force is applied to a construction so that the outer plate is displaced toward the nut, together with the construction element associated therewith, the outer plate applies a force, exerting in the direction axially of the bolt, to the inner ring. When receiving the force which has a component directed radially inwardly of the bolt, the inner ring is reduced in diameter to tighten the bolt, thereby preventing a further displacement of the outer plate and the construction element.

  • Patent number: 4936727
Abstract: A locking nut is disclosed for locking engagement with an element such as a bolt, rod, stud or the like, the element having a cylindrical screw-threaded outer surface. The locking nut includes a main nut having a thread for engaging the cylindrical screw-threaded outer surface of the element. A cylindrical sleeve integrally contiguous to a first end of the main nut extends longitudinally therefrom. The sleeve has a cylindrically threaded interior surface for engagement with the outer surface of the element to permit longitudinal motion of the sleeve along the outer surface of the element. The cylindrical sleeve also has a cylindrically screw-threaded exterior surface, coaxial with the cylindrical sleeve interior surface, the threading on the sleeve exterior surface having a greater flank angle than the threading on the sleeve interior surface. A secondary nut threadedly engages the sleeve exterior surface, the secondary nut having a first end confronting the first end of the main nut.

  • Patent number: 4890964
Abstract: A threaded fastener apparatus that self-locks onto a threaded bolt only during the very last stage of threading and that provides a predetermined self-locking force that remains substantially constant despite multiple repeated uses. The fastener apparatus includes a nut carried loosely within a locking sleeve that is secured to a workpiece. Threading a bolt into the nut draws the nut's enlarged cylindrical rearward section into compressive engagement with the sleeve's smaller-sized cylindrical forward section, to deform the nut radially inwardly into locking engagement with the bolt. Longitudinal through-slots in the nut's rearward end facilitate the inward deformation.

  • Patent number: 4850777
Abstract: Quick action fasteners, nuts, and end-to-end couplers, which eliminate the need for time-consuming and labor-intensive threading of nuts, couplers, and the like to helically threaded reinforcing rod and sections thereof and to other types of textured surface reinforcing rod, particularly in environments in which the fastener will be subjected to high loads and/or torques. Fasteners according to the invention include a housing, a plurality of nut segments, and an end cap for retaining the nut segments in a specially shaped bore defined in the housing. The bore includes a tapered section and an expansion section; the nut segments are formed, along interior segment surfaces, to be closely engageable to a corresponding section of the reinforcing rod. The nut segments are also shaped, along their exterior surfaces, to be congruent with tapered section of the bore.

  • Patent number: 4684284
Abstract: Anti-rotation lock asembly includes a male threaded member that may be releasably locked in any desired axially adjusted position relative to a mating female threaded member by means of one or more wedge keys that are forced axially into notches in an end face of the female threaded member and radially against flats or keyways on the male threaded member. Surrounding the male member is a key retaining ring which retains the wedge keys on the male member when the wedge keys are disengaged from the female member to permit relative rotation between the male and female members for adjustment of the male member in or out relative to the female member. The wedge keys are retained in radial slots in the retaining ring which prevent relative axial movement between the wedge keys and retaining ring while permitting limited radial movement therebetween.
