  • Patent number: 6592312
Abstract: A locking threaded bolt is provided whose head has an inclined seat surface. The angle of the incline of the head seat surface is such that when the bolt is tightened to a predetermined torque within a threaded hole, the entire seat surface is in contact with the upper surface of an article to be fastened, and a shearing stress is applied to the shank of the bolt in a transverse direction. This shearing stress causes reduced clearance between the threads of the bolt and the threads of the threaded hole, thereby firmly locking the bolt in the hole and preventing loosening of the bolt.

  • Patent number: 6554554
Abstract: A threaded fastener arranged to engage with a threaded shaft and tighten an object to the shaft by stretching the threaded shaft approximately parallel to its own axis. The threaded fastener is arranged so that when screwed on to the shaft the contacting surface are not parallel, thereby leaving a gap. The threaded fastener further comprises a tilting means of levering the surfaces away from one another and enlarging the gap between the surfaces. The tilting means may comprise an additional threaded shaft being threaded into an additional threaded aperture in the fastener or a ball bearing located in a groove on the surface of the fastened and contacting the surface of the object. The tilting means stretches the threaded shaft without bending the bolt requiring far less torque for stretching than a conventional nut and bolt tightened with a wrench.

  • Patent number: 6099223
Abstract: The subject invention relates to an adjustable wedge washer to be used in connection with various material testing machines which are used to mechanically test the strength of bolts, screws and other types of fasteners. The subject adjustable wedge washer includes two wedge washers being joined together mechanically with a snap ring so that they are not separable. The wedge washers then rotate relative to each other to form a variable testing angle relative to the fastener.

  • Patent number: 5961264
Abstract: A nut for interconnecting a pair of panel sheet components includes an upper and a lower nut plate. The upper nut plate includes a conical barrel portion to allow angled relative to a vertical axis of the assembly, the base plate having an axial clearance opening for accommodating a threaded fastener. The lower and upper nut plates are separated by a gap sized to accommodate one of the panel components therebetween, having a sized opening aligned with openings in the two sheets, with the barrel portion angled to facilitate assembly of the panel to a separate portion obliquely angled relative thereto. Preferably, the interconnecting portion includes a cutout portion to facilitate push-on of the assembly to a panel or sheet component with a portion of the clamping surfaces being raised with respect to the sheet component to minimize rotation of the nut during clamping.

  • Patent number: 4900179
Abstract: The mounting cross-piece or node assembly serves for the leak-tight connection of the cut ends of profile sections with one another. These profile sections are provided with an upper lengthwise extending opening and thus form a support or carrier construction or framework in the form of a grid or grid structure suspended at the ceiling of a room, especially a clean room. Filter frames and clean room filters can be mounted in gas-tight fashion in the grid structure. The mounting cross-piece assembly comprises at the cut surfaces of the profile sections to be interconnected and at the sides of the mounting cross-piece confronting such cut surfaces connection elements which can be secured in both of these components.

  • Patent number: 4889460
Abstract: A thread cleaning nut including a nut body having a central axis, first and second spaced apart faces formed on the nut body and a central aperture extending through the nut body along a central axis between the first and second faces. A screw thread is formed between the first and second faces within the central aperture wherein less than one-half of the first face is shaped as a first flat surface and more than one-half of the first face is shaped as a second flat surface inclined at an actue angle to the first flat surface. An end portion of the screw thread between the first and second surfaces is exposed to define at least one cutting tooth for cutting a path for the screw thread. The first and second surfaces intersect a third flat surface. The third flat surface intersects the central aperture at a position spaced from the central axis and it intersects the end portion of the screw thread at an acute angle to define a cutting edge of the at least one cutting tooth.

  • Patent number: 4557652
Abstract: A nut which is lockable on a threaded element comprises two annular parts (1, 2) connected by preferably resilient members (5). Locking takes place by tightening a screw (6) arranged in a threaded bore in one nut part and abutting against the other nut part. During tightening of the screw, the parts (1, 2) are displaced and/or skewed in relation to each other whereby locking takes place on the thread.
