Closure And Receptacle Feed Patents (Class 413/52)
  • Patent number: 8641349
Abstract: In the area of manufacturing covers with tear-open foils, the cover blanks, or covers are always secured against an undesired take-off from the transport means during the transport and the processing. This allows a very high manufacturing cadence equally for light covers and particularly for aluminium covers.

Abstract: A metal closure is described, in the form of a foil lid (1) bonded to a metal annular component (such as a container body or separate intermediate ring). The foil lid (1) and annular component are made of dissimilar metals, with the closure adapted to prevent bimetallic corrosion at the interface between the dissimilar metals of the foil lid and the annular component. The closure is adapted such that the lid comprises a peripheral wall which is upstanding from the annular component such that a gap is maintained between the annular component and an exposed metal peripheral edge of the lid. Further aspects of the invention include: i. a method for making such a metal closure; and ii. an apparatus for making such a metal closure.

  • Publication number: 20010040163
Abstract: Disclosed is a cover mountable to a beverage container and mounting method and apparatus thereof. The container cover detachably mountable to an upper surface of a beverage container comprises a body which is formed to have substantially a disc-shaped configuration. The body is partly cut away from an edge toward a center thereof thereby to define a beverage discharging opening which has a predetermined width and a predetermined contour. The beverage discharging opening is capable of being selectively communicated with a discharging hole of the beverage container as the body is rotated. An inner end of the beverage discharging opening is delimited by a rotation guiding part which has a predetermined curvature to guide rotation of the body. The body has a straw insertion hole which is defined therein at a predetermined location to have a predetermined diameter in a manner such that a straw can be inserted therethrough.

  • Patent number: 6160300
Abstract: A fabrication process and transistor are described in which a transistor having a diffusion barrier located in the bottom layer of a stacked (i.e., multi-layer) gate conductor is formed, thereby reducing the diffusion of dopants from the gate conductor to the underlying channel region. In a general embodiment, multiple gate conductor layers are formed and arranged in a vertical stack, and a diffusion barrier is introduced into one or more layers of the stack. In a preferred dual-layer embodiment, a first gate conductor layer (i.e., the bottom layer) having a first thickness is deposited upon a gate dielectric layer. An argon distribution is then introduced into the first gate conductor layer to form an argon diffusion barrier in the first gate conductor layer. A second gate conductor layer having a second thickness is then deposited upon the first gate conductor layer.

  • Patent number: 5125208
Abstract: A can end is seamed to a cylindrical can filled with contents. The can is fed along a substantially elliptical path including straight and arcuate paths. While the can is being fed along the straight path, the can end is seamed to the can by a linear seaming device. At the same time, the can end is rotated by a can end holder which has a pinion gear held in mesh with a rack which extends fully along the elliptical path. The rack is composed of separate rack members which are relatively movable to adjust the tension of an endless chain that moves can ends and cans along the elliptical path.

  • Patent number: 5014491
Abstract: An apparatus for seaming a can end to a filled cylindrical can includes can feed device for supporting the bottom of the can rotatably about its own axis and feeding the can linearly along a travel path at a predetermined speed. A can end holder member is provided for detachably holding the can end directly above the can feed device and holding the can end rotatably about its own axis. A can end feed member is provided for moving the can end holder member to feed the can end in synchronism with the can which is fed by the can feed device. A lifting/lowering member is provided for lowering the can end holder member to hold the can end held by the can end holder member against an open end of the can. A seaming device is provided and extends linearly along the travel path for pressing an end hook of the can end against a flange of the can while the can end against which the can end is held is being fed by the can feed device.

  • Patent number: 4671720
Abstract: A can end manufacturing apparatus including an endless belt (1) having spaced apertures (12) for supporting the can ends (C) through the various stages of manufacture, said belt (1) being supported by spring-loaded travel rails (2, 3) arranged in guide slots (4) formed in longitudinally spaced supporting pillars (5) arranged on either side of a die station chamber (6) within which several die stations (7, 8, 9) and a sealant application station (10) are arranged. During each manufacturing operation, the transfer belt (1) is moved vertically so that each can end (C) is brought into engagement with the die stations (7, 8, 9) and the sealant application station (10). During this vertical movement, the atmosphere within the die station chamber (6) is alternatively compressed and rarefied.
