Publication number: 20150110582Abstract: A method of overboarding and lowering a load from a vessel is disclosed. The method uses a vessel-mounted crane to lift the load from a deck of the vessel, to move the load off the deck into an outboard over-water position, and to lower the load from the outboard position into the water. The method further includes placing at least one guide member acting in compression between the load and an upstanding supporting structure of the crane to restrain horizontal movement of the load relative to a boom of the crane. Then, lowering the guide member occurs to continue restraining horizontal movement of the load while lowering the load from the outboard position into the water. A related guide apparatus includes at least one guide member that is movably connected to a mount for movement relative to the mount around and parallel to a slewing axis of the crane.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 23, 2013Publication date: April 23, 2015Inventors: Tore Jacobsen, Arun Prahash Kalyana Sundaram, Jarle Havn, Andrew Lewis, Sigbjorn Daasvatn

Publication number: 20150104274Abstract: A method for offshore overboarding a structure on a vessel for subsequent lowering the structure to the sea floor, is using a crane (13) to lift the structure at its storage place on a deck of the vessel and move it by means of the crane to a position free of the vessel before lowering it into the sea. During at least a part of the overboarding movement of the structure (1), the structure (1) is forced to follow a track (2) along the deck of the vessel. Two apparatus for performing the method are also presented.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 15, 2014Publication date: April 16, 2015Inventor: Jan Dysvik

Patent number: 8955667Abstract: A bulk material handling system and method use a horizontal boom frame supporting a conveyor mechanism for bulk material that is slidable relative to the horizontal boom frame. The conveyor mechanism is positioned such that, with bulk material received at a fixed location, or loading axis, on the horizontal boom frame, a portion of the conveyor mechanism will always be positioned to receive bulk material. The horizontal boom frame can also be made rotatable about the loading axis. By rotating the horizontal boom frame and advancing or withdrawing the conveyor mechanism, the discharge point for bulk materials relative to the loading axis can be altered radially and angularly without interrupting the flow of bulk materials through the system. A supply bridge assembly can be employed to bring the bulk materials to the loading axis of the boom.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2013Date of Patent: February 17, 2015Assignee: Rail-Veyor Systems, Inc.Inventor: Merton F. Publication number: 20140300112Abstract: The present invention relates to an offshore wind power generator, a lifting jig for transferring the offshore wind power generator, and a method for installing the offshore wind power generator using the lifting jig. The offshore wind power generator according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a blade, a nacelle including a power generator for generating power by the rotation of the blade, and a tower supporting the nacelle and installed on a support structure installed offshore. Also, the offshore wind power generator includes a tower support structure installed on the tower so that the tower is lifted using a predetermined transfer unit in a state where the blade, the nacelle, and the tower are integrally assembled. The tower support structure is disposed above a center of gravity of the wind power generator at which the blade, nacelle, and the tower are integrally assembled.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 17, 2012Publication date: October 9, 2014Applicant: SAMSUNG HEAVY IND. Patent number: 6431791Abstract: A fixed structure is shaped like a pier and equipped on an upper part with a slide guide. A length of the pier extends from land to a point at sea where the depth is such as to allow boats to be transported to float. A trolley slides along the pier. At least two arms extend from the trolley transverse to the pier. The arms are equipped with independent hoisting devices for harnessing the boats. The arms also have a sliding counterweight and are equipped with devices which indicate the horizontal position of the arms and control the movement of the sliding counterweight. The arms are also equipped with commands with which the hoisting devices and other motorized parts of the machine are controlled.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2001Date of Patent: August 13, 2002Inventor: Anton Massimo Galluccio
