  • Patent number: 10703587
Abstract: A method of delivering proppant to a well site has the steps of transporting a load of proppant in a vessel to a desired location, moving the load of proppant from the vessel into a container so as to create a proppant-loaded container, unloading the proppant-loaded container into a pneumatic bulk trailer, and transporting the unloaded proppant in the pneumatic bulk trailer to well site. The container is placed onto a bed of a truck and moved in proximity to the vessel. The proppant-loaded container is placed onto a tilting mechanism and then tilted so that the proppant is discharged through a flow gate of a container into a hopper. The proppant in the hopper can then be conveyed to the pneumatic bulk trailer.

Abstract: A device for rotating, positioning, and introducing electrode caps for welding electrodes into a magazine. A rotating electrode cap channel is connected to a spiral conveyor. The electrode caps stand on a cap end-face provided with a bore on the spiral conveyor end, and they are rotated by 90°. The other end of the rotating electrode cap channel is arranged relative to the upper end of the guiding shaft such that vibrations of the spiral conveyor are not transmitted to the rest of the system. The openings of the rotating electrode cap channel and the guiding shaft are arranged relative to one another such that the electrode caps can be reliably transferred, and the guiding shaft is connected to the magazine filling unit at the lower end of the guiding shaft. The magazine connection has locking lever sensors, which detect the correct fit of the magazine.

Abstract: A low impact belt dryer is presented for drying pellets while minimizing high-energy pellet collisions that may create pellet dust or cause pellets to fracture. The dryer includes a vacuum chamber having multiple air knife assemblies that direct high velocity drying fluid towards the pellets and though a liquid-permeable pellet-impermeable belt to a vacuum port. The low impact dryer may also include a centrifugal dryer for dewatering the pellets before they pass though the vacuum chamber. The conveyor belt of the dryer may transport the pellets through multiple desiccation chambers where low velocity air is directed upwards though the belt to both dry and levitate the pellets above the belt. The dryer may also include a cleaning chamber for removing debris from the liquid-permeable pellet-impermeable belt.

Abstract: A hopper feed regulator is provided for controlling the supply of feed to a hopper efficiently without having to directly contact the feed. The assembly includes a chamber having a switch contact, lever, upper hanger, cam follower and spring biasing arrangement, a second member having a lower hanger, attached at one end to the spring biasing arrangement and a cam, and the other end from which the hopper is hung. A spring biasing arrangement pulls the first and second members together at a preset spring bias strength. As the weight of the feed gathered in the hopper increases, the lower hanger is pulled away from the chamber by compressing the spring biasing arrangement. The cam, which is attached to the spring biasing arrangement, moves axially down the chamber. The cam follower, attached to the cam switch, rolls along the cam and at a predetermined weight, pulls the lever away from the switch button, thereby disengaging the switch.

Abstract: A stone metering system for a railroad track maintenance vehicle providing improved accuracy in stone delivery. The system includes a surge hopper, a number of metering augers, and a corresponding number of splitters. The metering augers convey ballast stones from the surge hopper to the corresponding splitters, which divide the stones evenly between a number of blow tubes. The pitch of the auger screw flights is increased from the inlet end of the screw to "expand" the stone and reduce the production of fines. In addition, the diameter of the final screw flight is reduced at the outlet end of the auger to provide a consistent and even flow of stone into the splitters. The splitters are dynamically adjustable to provide even distribution between the blow tubes regardless of the cant to the rails. The desired amount of stone is delivered to the tubes by rotating the auger screw the number of full or partial revolutions associated with the amount.

  • Patent number: 5195861
Abstract: An automatic rate matching system is provided such that the delivery of bulk material is matched with the quantity of bulk material required by a process. An optical probe is used which determines the depth of material delivered into a hopper, prior to its retrieval for use in the process. The probe and associated electronic components output a signal to a CPU which then varies the speed of a belt conveyor based upon the depth of material. As the material depth decreases, belt speed is increased. Conversely, as material depth increases, belt speed is decreased. Therefore, the delivery rate of bulk material is matched to the quantity required in a process by varying the speed of the conveyor belt, based upon the depth of material in the hopper.

Abstract: In a method of compacting low density articles a conveyor supplies articles to be compacted to a hopper positioned alongside the upper end of a compression chamber in which a platen is adapted to be reciprocated. When the presence of a specified charge in the hopper is sensed, the conveyor is disabled, the hopper and hydraulic cylinder with the platen in the retracted position are swung laterally to bring the hopper over the compression chamber to dump the contained articles into the chamber. Abstract: The level measuring system measures a variable level within a sensing area containing a mass of material. A sensing probe is positioned within the area and is coupled to the tank of an oscillating circuit through a switching network. A reference probe positioned in or near the sensing area is also coupled through the switching network to the tank of the oscillating circuit. The frequency of oscillation will depend upon a physical parameter of the mass of material within the immediate vicinity of sensing probe. Environmental conditions affecting the reactance of the sensing probe will equally affect the reference probe and therefore a change in the frequency produced by the sensing probe relative to the frequency produced by the reference probe will provide a true indication of the physical parameter being measured. Signal processing means are coupled to the oscillator for processing this frequency change.
