The platform is essentially flat and parallel to the roof and includes two ramps positioned at opposite ends of the platform, an opening located directly above the conveyor for permitting passage of ballast stones from the cart to the conveyor, and a grate in the opening with through openings in the grate large enough to permit passage of ballast stones and small enough so that the grate provides a path for the removal machine over the opening. The conveyor is an endless belt conveyor and is driven by a drive belt connected to an internal combustion engine.

The door assembly has two plates slidably mounted on the collection bin for movement between open and closed positions In order to transport the ash conditioning surge bin between different locations, the support frame of the conditioning ash surge bin houses a plurality of hydraulic jacks which can raise and lower the conditioned ash surge bin so that the haulage vehicle, supporting a conditioned ash surge bin carrier frame, can transport the conditioned ash surge bin to a new loading site.

    Abstract: In an automatic loading system and method wheeled carts receive five or six layers of newspaper bundles of four to six bundles per layer. A waist-high conveyor and an inclined ramp conveyor move bundles to a roller platform of independently operated roller sections selectively halted upon receipt of a bundle. When the desired number of bundles have been delivered to the roller platform, a pusher laterally moves the bundles to a split roller platform. A second group of bundles are delivered to the roller platform and the split roller platform. The sections of the split roller platform are then abruptly pulled apart causing the bundles to drop upon a fork-like platform extending into one side of a cart receiving the bundles. The pusher is retracted to the start position and the fork-like platform is lowered to receive the next layer of bundles in a like manner.

    Abstract: Load bars are transferred, in loaded condition, to or from the hangers of an overhead conveyor by a load transfer apparatus having a pair of parallel tracks approaching the power-driven conveyor path perpendicularly. The parallel tracks guide manually movable trolleys toward the power-driven conveyor path. The ends of these tracks nearest the power-driven conveyor are pivotable downwardly. To transfer a load from the manual trolleys to the power conveyor, the power conveyor is stopped, suspension chains of the power conveyor trolleys are hooked to the load bar, and the pivoted track sections are lowered until the suspension chains of the power-driven trolleys bear the load. Suspension chains of the manually movable trolleys can then be disconnected from the load bar, and the manual trolleys are removed from the tracks for reuse.The tracks are designed with flanges which prevent removal of the manual trolleys except at specified locations.

    Abstract: A device for loading granular material containing some foreign matter into a container, such as a railroad car, has upper and lower chutes arranged in parallel. The upper chute has a bottom screen for allowing the foreign matter to fall through to the lower chute. The grain flow remaining on the upper chute is discharged down the center of the car and fills toward the sides, while the foreign matter falling to the lower chute is distributed evenly by sidewardly extending wings out toward the sides and in towards the center of the car. By the operation of the device, the foreign matter carried in the grain is evenly distributed and mixed throughout the car, and the tendency of the foreign matter to concentrate along the center under the hatchway of the car is prevented. A sample of the grain taken from the hatchway of the car thereby contains a truer percentage of foreign matter to grain than would occur by conventional loading devices.
