Differentially Operated Cables Patents (Class 414/423)
  • Patent number: 8936426
Abstract: A material dumping system is suspendable by a single hoist line. A first hoist line pulley is attached to a forward attachment element on a dumping container so that the line can be wrapped under the first pulley to support the container. The hoist line extends from under the first pulley to a second pulley attachable to the hoist's support structure where it is wrapped over the second pulley to extend therefrom to a rearward attachment element on the dumping container. A selectively actuated hoist line brake permits rotation of both pulleys during normal raising and lowering of the dumping container with the container in a horizontal attitude. However, when it is desired to dump the contents of the container, the hoist line brake is actuated to prevent rotation of the second pulley while permitting rotation of the first pulley. The hoist line is then extended to tilt the container forward for dumping purposes.

  • Patent number: 4334820
Abstract: A bucket system incorporating a tilting mechanism comprises a pair of horizontal arms each provided integrally with a pair of stanchions having an arcuate bend in the upper portion thereof and having one or more pulleys disposed at the leading end of the arcuately bent upper portion, a bucket rotatably fastened to the pair of horizontal arms, and a pair of cables fastened at one end thereof to the lower end of the rear side of the bucket, passed over the pulleys on the stanchions, and again fastened at the other end thereof to a stationary mast on the fork lift, whereby elevation of the two-pronged platform of the fork lift whose two prongs are inserted into and held within the pair of horizontal arms causes the cables to stretch to their full length and thereby draw up the lower end of the rear side of the bucket so as to tilt the bucket as a whole and de-elevation of the two-pronged platform from its elevated position causes the bucket to return to its original horizontal position.

  • Patent number: 4280779
Abstract: A container dumping mechanism includes first and second sides. A carrier is positioned on the frame for movement relative thereto. The carrier includes a mechanism for supporting a container to be dumped. A dumping assembly is operably connected to the carrier and includes an actuating mechanism which is selectively actuable in first and second modes. In the first mode, the actuating mechanism is actuable to raise and generally invert the carrier at the first side of the frame to dump the contents of the container over the first side. In the second mode, the actuating mechanism is actuable to raise and generally invert the carrier at the second side of the frame to dump the contents of the container over the second side. The actuating mechanism is further actuable in a third mode for rotating the carrier essentially in place about a longitudinal axis to dump the contents of the container directly therebeneath.

  • Patent number: 4144806
Abstract: A horizontal piston-type compactor is mounted in a housing, having an open end, that is diagonally joinable to a trash container, also having an open end, the open ends coinciding in horizontal alignment to form the unit. A trash receiving port, surrounded by a combing, is defined in the top of the housing and overhangs the bottom of the trash container owing to diagonal joint between the housing and the container, to provide an interior spillage area and use of higher trash compacting pressure in the container. Side liners are pivoted to the respective sides of the container adjacent its open end and extend oppositely therefrom short of an opposite closed end thereof.
