Abstract: A device for retrieving golf balls consists of a pair of discs or disc portions rotatably mounted upon a plastic body. The shaft used to rotatably support the discs also serves to maintain the prongs of the body in a spaced relationship in which they develop an optimal amount of force upon the discs. The head assembly consists of only a few parts, and no supplemental means is necessary to secure them.
Abstract: This invention relates to a portable ball retriever, holder, and carrier apparatus operable to (1) pick-up and retrieve ball members from a support surface; (2) hold the ball members in a container member in an elevated condition; and (3) be folded into a compact condition for transport and/or storage. The portable ball retriever, holder, and carrier apparatus includes a main support frame assembly; a support and power drive assembly operable to provide mechanical power drive for a ball member retrieving function; a ball pick-up assembly having a rotatable cylinder member to pick-up the ball members and carry same upwardly and laterally; a ball container assembly mounted on the main support frame assembly to receive ball members therein; and an actuator handle assembly which is movable to various positions. The ball pick-up assembly includes a main retriever housing having a rotatable pick-up cylinder assembly therein.

Abstract: A portable golf ball retrieving tool has a shaft rotatably mounted on a handle. The shaft includes a number of spaced apart, slightly yieldable flat discs and has an extension at each end. A disc is mounted on each extension and the extensions include stub shafts which are telescoped into the ends of the tubular main shaft. The handle is made of multiple, relatively telescoping sections so that both the shaft and the handle can be collapsed to minimize the overall dimensions of the tool. The tool in its expanded position is rolled over a surface such as the bottom of a water hazard on a golf course. Golf balls encountered by the tool are rolled into positions between appropriately spaced apart discs where they are gripped between the disc pairs. The friction for gripping the golf balls is enhanced by a plurality of concentric ridges on the outer margins of the disc surfaces.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for picking up objects randomly distributed on a surface, for example nuts on the ground, in which a wheel made up of a plurality of coaxially mounted, flexible cylindrical discs separated by flexible spacers is rotated over the ground so that nuts become wedged in the spaces between adjacent discs and rotate with the wheel. Ejector rods fixed to a handle eject the wedged nuts into a basket pivotably mounted on the handle.
Abstract: Tool for vertically lifting and maneuvering objects such as utility access covers. A pair of spaced-apart ring assemblies including inner and outer concentric independently rotatable rings are connected to each other by a connecting member which extends over the object. The object is engaged to the tool by hooks suspended from the connecting member. A lever is connected to the connecting member so that when a force is applied to the lever the connecting member rotates causing simultaneous rotation of the inner rings while the outer rings remain stationary to vertically lift the object into the space between the ring assemblies. The object while suspended between the ring assemblies is then transportable by rotation of the outer rings with respect to the inner rings.
Abstract: A frame assembly rotatably supported on a pair of laterally spaced wheels that have resilient rims that will not damage the surface of a tennis court as they roll thereon, said frame assembly including an elongate tennis ball receiving basket mounted on the forward portion thereof, with the bottom of the basket at a height above the tennis court surface greater than the diameters of tennis balls resting in random positions on the surface, and the frame including an upwardly and rearwardly extending handle. A shaft extends transversely between aligned opening in laterally spaced legs that form a part of the frame assembly. A tennis ball retrieving assembly that includes laterally spaced pairs of resilient disks is rotatably supported on the shaft, with the lateral spacing between each pair of disks being less than the diameter of a tennis ball, and each pair of disks having beads on the periphery that removably maintain a tennis ball that has entered the annulus space between a pair of disks therein.
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved golf ball collector, which comprises a plurality of ball catching wheels on a common axle which wheels are parallel with and spaced from each other so that the distance between two adjacent wheels is slightly smaller than the diameter of golf balls. In front of each of said wheels is arranged one disk wheel which is aligned therewith and which is slightly elevated off the ground and is rotated in the reverse direction relative to the direction of rotation of the ball catching wheels. Means is provided to deliver balls from the ball catching wheels to a container.
Abstract: An open bottomed wheeled carriage has upstanding side plates between which a flexible mat is dragged over the ground. The front end only of the mat is secured to a cross bar on the carriage at a height greater than that of a golf ball on the ground. The mat is made up of pivotally joined rings or rings and links or parallel chains so that balls on the ground over which the mat is pulled will pass upwardly through the rings or between links or chains to the upper surface of the mat. A cleated endless belt, driven by the carriage supporting ground wheels, sweeps the balls rearwardly over the mat into a container on the rear of the carriage.
