  • Patent number: 11034557
Abstract: A lifting device is provided, the lifting device providing a cable and a powered winch which winds and unwinds the cable. Each end of the cable provides a slack-adjustable point of attachment to a load. The points of attachment may each be attached to an opposing end of a load, such that each point of attachment provides a counterweight to the other point of attachment. Slack between the points of attachment may be tensed by a bridging connector. The lifting device may lift a load by two lateral points of attachment such that the load may be elevated off a floor with minimal vertical clearance, and may be laterally actuated by casters hanging on a suspended rail.

  • Patent number: 10785474
Abstract: Sensors coupled to a vehicle are calibrated using a dynamic scene with sensor targets around a motorized turntable that rotates the vehicle to different orientations. The sensors capture data at each vehicle orientation along the rotation. The vehicle's computer identifies representations of the sensor targets within the data captured by the sensors, and calibrates the sensor based on these representations, for example by comparing these representations to previously stored information about the sensor targets and generating a correction based on differences, the correction applied to post-calibration sensor data.

  • Patent number: 7731472
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for transporting a motorized vehicle, such as a wheelchair, between the loading bridge and cargo bin of an aircraft in a timely manner. According to one embodiment of the invention, a metal cage assembly is implemented with a drop down ramp at the front and an adjustable floor that is raised by a lever handle on either side, outside of the frame. The assembly can be attached to an end of aircraft cargo belt loader by a strap that is wrapped around the belt frame and tightened via a ratcheting clamp. The adjustable floor can be raised or lowered at one end to offset the angle of the belt loader when it is raised to an upright position, for example, to reach a galley door of an aircraft. Angling of the adjustable floor can allow the floor to be substantially parallel to the loading bridge or aircraft cargo bin, thereby enabling the easy transfer of a motorized wheelchair to and from various compartments of the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 6009927
Abstract: A method and apparatus for installing carpet which provides for assembling and suspending a wheeled gantry hoist over a work domain for lifting furniture or other objects in a work-space, raising the suspended furniture by as little as one-half inch, and subsequently installing rolled carpet beneath the furniture. The wheeled gantry hoist comprises a pair of mobile support trusses spanned by an elongated beam of sufficient length to permit the full width of the carpet to be passed thereunder. The beam suspends at least one ratchet winch adapted to lift modular office panels and furniture and be slidably and detachably suspended from the beam. The carpet roll, having been rolled onto a spindle, is horizontally supported by a mobile carriage for spooling out the carpet. A blower is disposed to force high-velocity air beneath adhesive carpet to lift the carpet and prevent adhesion of the carpet to the floor as the carpet is being pulled beneath the raised furniture to be set in place by an installer.

  • Patent number: 5007784
Abstract: A robotic arm comprises a plurality of sequentially pivotally attached links. The proximal end portion of the proximalmost of the links is pivotally mounted to a relatively static structure. An end effector structure has two substantially oppositely extending hands each capable of picking up a workpiece. The end effector structure is centrally pivotally mounted to the distal end portion of the distalmost link. The links, end effector structure and static structure are such as to allow the robotic arm to reverse across the pivot axis of the proximal end portion of the proximalmost of the links. A radial drive serves for driving the links in a manner such that the pivot axis of the central portion of the end effector structure moves only substantially linearly radially along a straight line passing through and perpendicular to the pivot axis of the proximal end portion of the proximalmost of the links and to the pivot axis of the central portion of the end effector structure.

  • Patent number: 4861219
Abstract: An apparatus for lifting and carrying heavy loads includes a generally horizontally extending support beam attached between a pair of generally vertically extending posts. The distance between the ends of the support beam is selectively adjustable. The bottom end of each support post is attached to a side beam and the side beams are connected together at a front end by a steering mechanism and at a rear end by a beam assembly. Both the steering mechanism and the beam asssembly are selectively adjustable to vary the distance between the side beams to correspond to the distance between the ends of the support beam thereby maintaining the posts in a generally parallel relationship. The side beams are also selectively adjustable to vary the length of the load carrying apparatus. Ground engaging wheels are rotatably attached to the side beams and the steering mechanism.
