Including Haulage Cable Patents (Class 414/494)
  • Patent number: 5203668
Abstract: An apparatus for loading a container or other load onto a truck body or trailer and for removal which includes a lower frame secured to the truck during movement and an upper frame pivotally secured with respect to the lower frame to facilitate loading and unloading. The upper frame has one or more rollers secured to an outermost portion thereof. A flexible drive cable is secured at one end to the lower frame and is secured at the other end to the container structure. The cable passes over the roller or rollers and is moved thereby during loading and unloading operations. The cable utilizes no drive other than merely the movement of the roller device with the upper frame which alters the direction of extension of the cable thereby facilitating loading and unloading of the container or load by use of a cable without any winching operation.

  • Patent number: 4589814
Abstract: This application covers a trailer which has platforms at two levels, one for a boat and one for an automobile. It includes a frame supported by wheels, a primary loading platform which rests on the main frame and is pivotally attached thereto so that it can be tilted therewith. An upper or secondary load carrying platform is supported above the primary load platform by four stanchion. Means are provided to pull the secondary load platform down to the first load platform and then pivot the two so that a boat can be pulled onto the upper or secondary load platform. Then, the upper load platform is pivoted about the stanchion to an upright position and locked in place. The secondary or primary loading platforms are then pivoted together and the lower platform can then be loaded, for example, by driving a car up on it. When it is loaded, then the fixed primary and secondary loading platforms are rotated about the pivot so that they rest securely on the main frame.

Abstract: A roll-off hoist is mounted onto a vehicle to swing about a pivot at the aft end of the vehicle while the hoist moves along a slide plate supported by the pivot. A piston and cylinder assembly is coupled between the slide plate and the aft end of the hoist rails. As the hoist rails jut from the rear of the vehicle chassis, other piston and cylinder assemblies cause the forward portion of the hoist rails to swing above the chassis. The aft end portion of the hoist rails descends to ground level to receive the forward portion of a roll-off container which is drawn onto the hoist rails by a powerful winch. The piston and cylinder assemblies connected to the forward portion of the hoist rails are used to swing the hoist rails about the pivot while the piston and cylinder assembly in the rear portion of the hoist rails is inoperative to thereby elevate a container with the forward portion thereof extending high above ground level for dumping material in the container from an opening at the aft portion thereof.

Abstract: To unload a lengthy object from a transport trailer, the rear of the trailer is supported by legs and the bogie wheels at the rear are shifted fowardly. As they reach the front of the trailer, they are automatically coupled to the tractor and the tractor is disconnected from the trailer.
