Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a vertical hydraulic cylinder axle arrangement that can receive flexible power lines through the cylinder. In particular, a hollow piston rod having a longitudinally extending passage through which hydraulic hoses and electrical lines can pass is incorporated into a heavy-load transporter. A portion of the piston rod defines a splined shaft to mechanically engage a rotating slew gear drive to permit omnidirectional steering. The piston rod extends downward to form a trunnion mount on which drive wheels can articulate laterally to conform to irregularities in various surfaces and other inclinations.

Abstract: A platform lift trailer includes a chassis to which a lift device is mounted. The chassis is configured to be coupled to a standard motor vehicle trailer hitch or the like using a coupler. Some embodiments of the coupler provide protection against larges torsional forces applied between a motor vehicle and coupled trailer when they are angularly displaced relative to one another. One or more ground-engaging wheel assemblies are mounted to the chassis to assist in supporting the weight of the lift and any cargo thereon. The platform lift trailer is highly adaptable so that a wide variety of lifts can be mounted to the platform lift trailer and thus to smaller motor vehicles. Adaptation of mobility lifts and the like to a larger array of motor vehicles is therefore possible. One or more embodiments of a trailer coupler use torque-limiting apparatus so that vertical angular displacements of a motor vehicle and a coupled trailer do not apply large forces directly between the motor vehicle and the trailer.

Abstract: A trailer capable of being lowered to ground level for loading, unloading and tipping purposes includes a load carrying floor or tray and at least one pair of opposed ground engaging wheels connected to the trailer by means of dual purpose linkages which function not only as the main suspension components of the trailer but also to raise or lower the platform of the trailer without altering the camber of the wheels. The dual purpose linkages are actuated by inflatable fluid springs which provide the substantially horizontal force for raising and lowering the trailer. A safety mechanism is fitted to the trailer to prevent the trailer from hitting ground level in the event that an air spring fails. An adjustable level control is fitted to the trailer to regulate the air pressure in the air springs in order to maintain the platform of the trailer at a predetermined height.
