Patent number: 5470186Abstract: A system for operating hopper doors 14, 16 in a bulk transport vehicle comprises linkages 34, 36, 38, 40 forming an over-center locking arrangement and separate opening and closing trip levers 24, 50 attached to an operating shaft 30. The trip levers 24, 50 are operated by engaging associated cams 28, 54 as the vehicle is moved relative thereto. The cams 28, 54 are inactivated by being rotated, translated or lowered out of the path of the trip levers to a position where they do not trigger the operation of the doors 14, 16. A single door or pair of doors may be operated at the same time. To prevent false triggering of the door mechanism in transit, a secondary lock can be provided where a spring or counterweight is used to bias a lever which restrains a governor. The governor moves between stops which determine the angular positions corresponding to the door(s) 14, 16 being opened or closed.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 1995Date of Patent: November 28, 1995Assignee: ABB EPT Construction Pty. Patent number: 5409344Abstract: A cart for transporting grain and the like and unloading the grain using an auger system. The system has two augers, a lower auger that elevates the grain from the cart's grain storage hopper and deposits it into an upper auger that carries the grain out and away from the cart for discharge at the desired place. Each auger is independently driven by a hydraulic motor. The upper auger can be swung through a wide arc thereby allowing the grain to be discharged to almost any unloading position without moving the cart. Because the upper auger is independent, the arc through which it is swung is at a relatively low angle from the horizontal and the grain therefore can be discharged a greater distance from the cart. Also, the upper auger can be swung to a position alongside the hopper for over-the-road transport of the cart.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1994Date of Patent: April 25, 1995Assignee: United Farm Tools, Inc.Inventor: James R. Tharaldson

Patent number: 5358371Abstract: A pipe hauling trailer is described for hauling and dispensing individual sections of elongated pipe for joining in end-to-end relation to form a pipeline. The trailer also includes structure for mounting pipe section end joining machinery, so the pipeline may be assembled directly from the trailer. The trailer includes racks for supporting the stack of pipe sections. Escapement cams are positioned at a bottom corner of the rack and are manually movable to engage individual pipe sections from the bottom of the stack, and to deliver the individual pipe sections to a dispensing station, where the pipe sections are supported by rollers for longitudinal movement rearward of the frame. A movable support is provided for a conventional pipe end joining machine on the trailer frame, so the successive pipe sections moving longitudinally from the frame may be joined end to end, thereby forming the pipeline directly from the present trailer.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 1993Date of Patent: October 25, 1994Inventor: E. Patent number: 5118244Abstract: A self-unloading load hauling box for use on a towed carriage or carried by a powered mobile vehicle wherein the box is a rigid unit having a bottom wall with a floor plate and side walls and front end wall projecting up from the rigid bottom wall. An endless belt is looped around the bottom wall and runs on a driven roller at the rear end and an idler roller at the front end of the box. The endless belt is driven through an arc of selected length at spaced apart intervals to unload contents from the box. The jerky action from intermittently driving the belt has a tendency to cause a vibration, loosening the content in the box and thus results in a relatively even discharge during unloading. Between the upper run of the endless belt and the upper surface of the floor is a friction reducing pad which also absorbs shock loads tending to reduce damage to the belt and/or floor when loading heavy chunk material.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1990Date of Patent: June 2, 1992Inventor: Peter P. Patent number: 4968211Abstract: The invention provides a self-propelled fully operational loose bulk material slinger in a vehicle equipped to be driven. A slinger and hopper is mounted on a chassis supported by a triangular arrangement of road wheels. Individual powering of two road wheels, one on each side of the chassis, allows self-powered mobility and the road wheels can be steered for directional release of a material being stockpiled. A third small road wheel attached to swivel, balances the vehicle and can be retracted and extended to angle the vehicle for increasing and decreasing trajectory height of material being stockpiled. An engine and a hydraulic system provides mobility and mechanical adjustability to the vehicle. A stand-on control station allows the slinger vehicle according to the invention to be fully controlled by a single operator.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1989Date of Patent: November 6, 1990Inventor: Ira Compton
