Patent number: 6698993Abstract: A transporter is adapted to tip by using bilateral rams on opposite sides of a main compartment in the form of an open topped bin. The main bin is V-shaped in profile and when the trailer is tipped a conveyor underneath the bin raises an ingredient flowing from the bin. The bin is divided by flow-promoting dividers which are asymmetric in profile, each divider has a front face defined by an included angle “A” of about 34° and a rear face defined by an included angle “B” of about 75°, measured from the horizontal when the bin is in a horizontal transport position. Faces of adjacent dividers converge to a flow through passage that an ingredient flows along the V-sides of the bin and the faces directly through the flow through passages.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2001Date of Patent: March 2, 2004Inventor: Anthony Leon Stephens

Patent number: 6129500Abstract: In a trailer, a conveyor comprises a floor and two walls, each comprising a band and series of rollers. All the rollers of the walls are identical. The rollers of the floor are not. The first roller of the floor, at the discharge end, has a diameter larger than that of other rollers. The last roller, at the charge end, comprises cogs. The floor band is attached at both ends to a pad stream forming an endless conveyor with the floor band. The cogs fit into holes in the pads. The top floor band is of a rubber base and is dust tight; the bottom band is made of pads attached to each other by piano hinges. The cogs make the pad stream move alternatively from one end to the other, thereby causing the motion of the floor band towards the discharge end of the trailer and its return to the charge end. An angle iron joins the bands of the floor and of the walls to drag the band of the walls along with the top band of the floor. The discharge end roller, elevated, keeps the materials in the conveyor during transport.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1998Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Inventor: Paul Doyon

Patent number: 6092966Abstract: A multiple purpose dump unit designed to be mounted on a vehicle for hauling, dumping, spreading and the collection of refuse as well as for distributing salt, sand and other aggregates. The unit has a single dump body with a sloping, fixed endgate and a longitudinally extending conveyor along the open bottom of the dump body, and the unit is provided with a spreader mechanism at the exit gate from the conveyor to facilitate spreading of salt, sand and other aggregates. The unit is pivotally mounted near its rear end so that it can be lifted by hydraulic cylinders for dumping, spreading aggregate, asphalt, etc. The dump unit can be sized so that the vehicle can navigate narrow streets and alleys and is mounted at a height and with sides of a height to meet the requirements for manual refuse loading.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1998Date of Patent: July 25, 2000Assignee: Highway Equipment CompanyInventors: Charles Martin, Michael Dean, Peter Cervelli

Patent number: 5993130Abstract: A loading car for bulk material for incorporation in a freight train of a plurality of successively arranged like loading cars, includes a box open on top and mounted on a frame for storing bulk material. A bottom conveyor is disposed in a lower portion of the box and has opposite conveyor ends spaced from one another in the longitudinal direction. Positioned between the boxes of two successive cars, each loading car has a transfer conveyor arrangement which projects beyond the frame and is angularly adjustable with respect to the bottom conveyor, with the transfer conveyor arrangement including two separate transfer conveyors, with one of the two transfer conveyors cooperating with one of the conveyor ends and the other one of the two transfer conveyors cooperating with the other one of the conveyor ends so as to allow a reversal of the conveying direction for the bulk material.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 1997Date of Patent: November 30, 1999Assignee: Franz Plasser Bahnbaumaschinen-Industriegesellschaft mbH.Inventors: Josef Theurer, Manfred Brunninger, Friedrich Oellerer

Patent number: 5988289Abstract: A three wheeled sod laying apparatus is provided that employs a hydrostatic power system which allows the drive function and sod dispensing function to be operated at different speeds. This configuration enables the operator to vary the speed at which the sod is dispensed from the apparatus in relation to its forward speed to compensate for varying terrain or for inconsistences in the sod roll itself. The three wheeled configuration allows for a highly maneuverable vehicle that can straddle new sod as it is laid. Thus, the present invention allows for the laying of sod from large commercial sod rolls while avoiding the problems of sod buckling or tearing encountered while using presently available equipment.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 1997Date of Patent: November 23, 1999Inventors: Gregory Paul Holland, Steven Douglas Ishaug

Patent number: 5980189Abstract: A portable grain cart that has independently operated, endless, rubber belted conveyors for moving material out of the hopper and then discharging the material into a truck or other transport or storage facility. A first rubber belted conveyor is mounted inside of the hopper to pick up the material from the hopper and then discharge the material outside the cart onto a second conveyor which then moves the material into the truck. The outside or discharge conveyor is pivotally mounted so that it can be swung to a number of positions, including a storage position, and it also can be elevated to different heights depending upon the truck or storage facility into which the material is to be discharged.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1998Date of Patent: November 9, 1999Assignee: United Farm ToolsInventor: Daryl Rubner

Patent number: 5934862Abstract: A conveyor mechanism is provided for transporting objects. The conveyor mechanism, in particular, includes a single continuous belt member wrapped around one or more chain loops and also around a pair of spaced-apart pulleys disposed outboard thereof. A first axle having one or more drive sprockets, a second axle having an equal number of idler sprockets, and a motor connected to the first axle are provided for driving the chain loops and the surrounding belt member. In use, the belt member maintains a constant linear velocity throughout its travel path (i.e., both inboard and outboard of the two sets of sprockets), due to the action of the pulleys. In this way, the velocities of the belt member and chains are synchronized at all points where they are in engagement (i.e., inboard of the sprockets), and slipping and/or stretching of the belt member with respect to the chains is advantageously prevented at its reversal points (i.e., outboard of the sprockets).Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1997Date of Patent: August 10, 1999Assignee: E.D. Patent number: 5927617Abstract: A truck in accordance with the present invention includes a dump body, a truck frame with a rear axle, a lift system, and a conveying system. The dump body is defined by a unitary floor, a pair of sidewalls which extend tip from opposite sides of the floor, and a front wall and a back wall located on opposite sides of the floor and extending between the sidewalls. The dump body is pivotally connected to the truck frame adjacent to the back wall. The lift system is mounted to the truck frame and the dump body for lifting an end of the dump body proximate the front wall between a lowered resting position on the truck frame and an upper raised position. The conveying system is positioned on the floor behind the rear axle and extends between the pair of sidewalls. The dump body has at least one opening in alignment with the conveying system.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1996Date of Patent: July 27, 1999Inventors: Charles S. Musso, Jr., Tom Musso
