Abstract: Workpieces such as chips are removed from a receiving plane by a transfer unit, which carries them to a delivery plane. The workpieces are transported in two segments during two phases, each workpiece being deposited between the phases on an intermediate station arranged in the region of the feed path. The transfer unit has two working heads, which simultaneously transport one workpiece from the receiving plane to the intermediate station, and another workpiece from the intermediate station to the delivery plane. The workpiece can be pivoted or rotated at the intermediate station so that its lower surface can be grasped by the depositing head.

  • Patent number: 6164899
Abstract: A disk transfer apparatus includes an elongated arm which is pivotally connected at one end to a mounting block for pivotal movement through a vertical plane. A head is mounted on the free end of the arm, and has a pair of fixed, parallel jaws projecting therefrom forming a slot therebetween to receive a disk. A disk will contact the bottom of the slot between the jaws so that the forward ends of the jaws are juxtaposed through the central aperture in the disk. In this way, the disk will contact the jaws only at the edges of the inner side wall of the aperture and the outer side wall around the perimeter of the disk, during movement of the disk with the arm.

  • Patent number: 6116845
Abstract: Articulating workpiece transfer apparatus comprises a pair of identical housings each of which has a circular flange projecting from one side of the housing and abutting one another. Each flange has adjacent its periphery a beveled edge. A circular clamp has a concave groove in which the peripheral edges of the flanges are accommodated, and such clamp is operable to apply a clamping force on each flange urging the latter into face-to-face engagement with one another. Each housing has a cylindrical opening for the accommodation of an elongate transfer arm which is linearly slideable and rotatable about the axis of the arm. Each housing includes a clamp which enables and disables relative movement between the associated arm and the housing. The housings are rotatable relative to each other about an axis which passes through both flanges and which is normal to the axis of rotation of the respective transfer arms.

  • Patent number: 6116844
Abstract: A mechanism for orienting an end member utilizes paired five-bar linkages wherein two joints on each five-bar linkage may be actuated. Preferably the actuators are mounted at the base-link of the five bar linkages, such base-links being collinearly aligned. Two or three rotational and one translational degrees of freedom are available. This mechanism in its three or two degrees of rotational freedom variants has exceptional motion range, free of singularities, superior structural properties, and is easy to manufacture. This orienting mechanism can be mounted as an end member on a positioning mechanism having four main links herein three joints are actuated. The diagonally oppose joints of the positioning mechanism are respectively spherical and revolute. This positioning mechanism can operate with two actuators that are grounded and one that is elevated.

  • Patent number: 5995893
Abstract: A device for controlling the operation of power excavators includes a control lever which is handled simply by one hand, which is different from the prior art systems having multiple control levers necessarily handled by both hands. The control lever consists of a plurality of links which are jointed together in such a way that the intuitive handling directions of the links are identified with the actual moving directions of the actuators. The control lever thus adds significant convenience for the operator when operating the actuators of the excavator. An excavator with the above control device can be easily and effectively operated by an unskilled operator even for delicate work such as a land finishing work or loading work, both of which tasks are generally known in the art to require a highly-skilled operator.

Abstract: A rearwardly swinging operator enclosure is provided for a skid-steer loader having vertical lift arms. The enclosure, as well as the links coupling the lift arms to the loader are both pivotally mounted high on laterally spaced apart support posts carried at the rear of the enclosure. The raised pivotal mountings permit the enclosure to swing rearwardly and high above the loader components housed beneath the enclosure to allow maintenance activities to be conveniently carried out from the front of the loader. The raised pivotal mountings further permit the use of a cross member to reinforce both the support posts and lift arm links and yet avoid interference with swinging movement of the enclosure or lift links. With the cross member positioned near the top of the support posts, rear visibility is enhanced.
