Shovel Forming Members Pivoted Relative To Each Other To Dump Load Patents (Class 414/726)
  • Patent number: 4565485
Abstract: The grab (3) for handling material has two grab members (4, 5) one or both or which have tines (6, 7), the grab members being relatively movable to open or close the grab so that cohesive or rigid material can be grasped between the tines (6, 7). Additionally, one grab member (4) has side and bottom panels (21, 22) forming a scoop or bucket component and the other grab member (5) has a back panel (10) so that in one condition of the grab, e.g. when the grab members (4, 5) are closed, there is formed a complete scoop or bucket for scooping up granular or liquid material to be handled. In another embodiment, the grab member (5) may also have small side and bottom panels; in other examples the scoop may be provided wholly on one of the grab members. The grab avoids having to use separate devices respectively for grasping and for scooping operations.

  • Patent number: 4517756
Abstract: A snubber for use with a dipper to retard movement of the dipper door toward and away from an opening formed in the dipper. The snubber includes an elastic member and an actuator link. When the door is at a first angle with respect to the dipper, the elastic member is in tension to retard movement of the door toward the dipper. When the door is at a second angle with respect to the dipper, the elastic member is in bending to retard movement of the door away from the dipper. The snubber is inactive when the door is at an angle between the first and second angles.

  • Patent number: 4518306
Abstract: Improvement in a bucket-equipped loading machine, particularly a so-called wheel loader, having at one end of the machine a loading bucket which is supported for raising and lowering movements by a pair of lift arms, journalled in the machine, and which is pivotally connected with the free ends of said arms and lockable in position relative thereto.

  • Patent number: 4497608
Abstract: A digger for digging out substantially vertically-sided holes e.g. for gravestone monument foundations, is in the form of an attachment adapted to be connected on the dipper stick of a backhoe machine. The attachment has a downwardly-depending digger frame pivoted at its upper end to an attachment frame which is connected to the free end of the dipper stick. A vertically extending operating shaft extends upwardly relative to the digger frame and is connected through a pair of lower linkages to the sections of a clam shell bucket mounted on the lower end of the digger frame. The upper end of the operating shaft connects through a connecting link and a rocking lever to the piston of the dipper stick piston and cylinder arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4493605
Abstract: A clamshell-type loader bucket has a pair of jaws with meeting edges that close together on one side of the bucket and on the bottom of the bucket to retain fine material such as sand, dirt or dry grain. The meeting edges on the bottom of the bucket are arranged to pick up such material from a flat supporting surface when the bucket is in vertical position. The bucket has a hopper bottom with inclined bevel plates on the jaws arranged to force material upward in the bucket as the jaws close on the material when the bucket is in vertical position.

  • Patent number: 4392774
Abstract: A clam bucket attachment designed to cooperate with the crowd and the bucket curl or crowd hydraulic cylinder of a conventional backhoe, which attachment includes a bucket support pivotally and rotatably carried by the backhoe crowd and having a cable which operates to open and close a clam bucket suspended from the bucket support. A cable boom is removably, but rigidly attached to the crowd, and includes a forward and rear sheave which receive the cable, one end of which is connected to the crowd hydraulic cylinder, and the opposite end to the clam bucket. The clam bucket is opened and closed by extending and retracting the crowd hydraulic cylinder and is raised and lowered by operation of the backhoe crowd and boom, in conventional fashion.
