Patent number: 6409462Abstract: A method for forming vertical stacks of documents and then conveying the stacks serially along a conveyor to further processing stations. The stacks are rapidly ejected onto a conveyor which is driven at a relatively slow delivery speed, and to avoid longitudinal shingling of the stacks caused by their rapid ejection onto the conveyor, and to correct any lateral misalignment of each stack, there is provided a pair of rotatably mounted resilient guide rolls along respective opposite sides of the conveyor for rotation about vertical axes. The rolls are spaced apart a distance such that the rolls resiliently engage the opposite sides of the stacks as they pass therebetween. Also, the guide rolls are rotated at an initial peripheral speed which closely approximates the speed of the advancing stacks when the stacks engage the two guide rolls, which serves to square the stacks.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 2001Date of Patent: June 25, 2002Inventors: John Robert Newsome, Kenneth Jerome Polarek

Patent number: 6238167Abstract: An over-center ejector blade retaining system which automatically locks the ejector blade in a loading position when the ejector blade has been retracted into the load position by operation of the hydraulic cylinder or ram to which it is attached. Movement of the ejector blade into the load position rotates a lock plate attached to the vehicle body into engagement with a locking roller attached to the ejector blade thereby compressing a spring attached to the lock plate. Upon movement of the connection between the lock plate and the spring over the center of rotation of the lock plate, the compressive force on the spring is released and the ejector blade held in the load position. When the ejector blade is moved from the load position to discharge materials, the process is reversed and the lock plate held in an open position for again receiving the locking rollers upon the return of the ejector blade to the load position.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1999Date of Patent: May 29, 2001Assignee: Caterpillar S.A.R.L.Inventors: Peter M. Patent number: 6220810Abstract: A device for moving bulk flow material is provided. The device includes an idler sprocket assembly and a drive sprocket assembly. The drive sprocket assembly is engaged with a motor, which turns the drive sprocket assembly. Endless loop drive chains are functionally engaged on the idler sprocket assembly and the drive sprocket assembly. Spacer bars are positioned perpendicular to and attached to the endless loop drive chains. A conveyor belt is received loosely on the endless loop drive chains, covering the endless loop drive chains and leaving slack in the conveyor belt. A method for moving bulk flow material is also provided. According to the method, the motor turns the drive sprocket assembly, advancing the drive chains. The weight of the bulk flow material presses the conveyor belt against the chains, creating friction which advances the conveyor belt.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1999Date of Patent: April 24, 2001Assignee: Star Transport Trailer, Inc.Inventor: Lee Wilkerson

The bales can be either round or rectangular bales. The bale carrier is towed to a bale in a field. The bale is positioned in a bale loading mechanism and securely clamped. The bale is lifted, rotated, and placed on the bale carrier such that a flat surface of the bale rests on the bale carrier. A plurality of bales can be loaded onto the bale carrier. After the bale carrier is loaded, the bale loader is transported to a bale storage location where the bales are unloaded. The bales are unloaded such that a bound surface of an unloaded bale faces skyward, and such that an unbound surface of a bale faces an unbound surface of a previously unloaded bale.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1997Date of Patent: February 1, 2000Inventor: Albert William Cheatham

Patent number: 5934863Abstract: A personal vehicle loading and unloading apparatus includes a support structure mounted to a platform such as a truck bed which supports the personal vehicle, and a moveable ramp mounted telescopically within the support structure. The ramp is manually moveable between a retracted position where substantially the entire ramp is within the truck bed and an extended position where substantially the entire ramp extends from the truck bed. The ramp and the support structure each have an upper surface over which the bottom surface of the personal vehicle, or a conveyor for the vehicle, rides as the personal vehicle is moved to and from the truck bed. These upper surfaces each comprise an anti-friction material having a kinetic friction coefficient no greater than 0.5. A winch mechanism mounted to the support structure pulls the personal vehicle into the truck bed during loading and lowers slowly the personal vehicle from the truck bed during unloading.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1997Date of Patent: August 10, 1999Inventor: Gregory S.
